Uterine fibroids?

Hi ladies,

Last Tuesday, we were diagnosed with a missed miscarriage. Had an ultrasound and there was "no cardiac activity" even though I had no bleeding or cramping. We were devastated, of course. And, it was my birthday on Saturday and my husband's birthday yesterday, so it's just been a really crappy week.

I'm wondering if anyone has had an experience with uterine fibroids. When the doctor did my D&C, she said she found a fibroid the size of a tennis ball and my uterus was measuring at about four months. (I was supposed to be 11 weeks, but they said the baby stopped developing at 9 weeks.)

The doctor said that they can't be sure, but uterine fibroids can be a cause of recurrent miscarriages (though this was my first), so now I have to deal with this before we can start TTC again. They're waiting to see if the fibroid shrinks as my hormone levels decrease or if I'll have to have the tumor removed.

Any advice?

I am dealing with fibroids too. Mine was discovered via ultrasound during our initial consultation with my RE. It said it was about 5cm, the size of a golf ball. They gave me some treatment options including surgery. At the time we decided to wait and see. I recently had an early miscarriage and I believe that it was caused by the presence of the fibroid. I have not been back to my RE yet since the MC. I am seeing an acupuncturist as well with the hopes that I can treat the fibroid naturally.

Me: 34 DH: 33. TTC Since March 2011. DX: Me: Fibroids. BFP 3.1.12, HCG 3.3.12=30, HCG 3.6.12=20, HCG 3.8.12= 10. CP 4 weeks,4 days.

So sorry for your loss.  I am about to undergo testing for fibroids as well.  Not sure yet if it's actually an issue. I'm going to schedule a saline-sonogram, which I understand helps the tech view the fibroids more clearly.  After that, I'll be given treatment options, if any.

 I would love to hear from other women about their treatment options/plans.  There aren't too many of us!
