I have been on Dom for 2 weeks and it has made such a huge difference. I no longer supplement with formula and pump what LO eats when I am at work. During my research I discovered that reglan has many central nervous system side effects including depression, Dom does not have these side effects because the molecule does not cross the blood brain barrier. That is what sold me on Dom. I don't have a Rx but I purchase it from inhousepharmacy.biz without one. I would think the reglan might be cheaper for you since you would have a Rx and it might be covered on your insurance, but the Dom is still way cheaper than formula. I think it's so awesome that you are planning on breastfeeding your adopted baby, good luck!

Doc probably wants you on reglan b/c s/he can prescribe it, vs. Domperidone which s/he can not prescribe.  Side effect of reglan is runny stool.  PP gave you the site to order the Domperidone from - I would do that first.  IMHO.  With BFing concerns, I trust LCs over drs.

I took Reglan which was prescribed by my OBGYN.  In the third and last week of the medication I had sudden onset of severe depression and anxiety.  After I stopped the medication the severity of the depression and anxiety subsided but did not completely go away.  I was later diagnosed with depression.  I am not sure if the onset of my PPD coincided with taking the Reglan or if the Reglan was a trigger for the depression.  Either way, if I ever get to the last resort of medication for supply issues with a future child then I will try Domperidone instead.

I was on Reglan for hypermesis when I was pregnant & it landed me in the ICU. A side effect that can become permanent is dystonia. Basically it's like having a seizure while cognitively aware. Super scary & pretty common so my doctor said. Not to mention the depression like PPs brought up.
