what can I buy you?

My SIL did put a little piece of paper in w the invites for my shower saying where I'm registered (one box store and one website), yet I'm still being asked, "what do you need?", "what is your color scheme?", and, "what can I buy? It's so hard to find gender-neutral clothes!"
Pointing out the registries, I still get, oh, I'm not shopping off a registry, I want to do my own thing. I suggested books, and one person said, "I'm not buying books!"

Well, then, creative genius, go for it!! :-/

Yeah, green crib sheets ARE kinda boring...sorry.

Aww, it sucks that people are so anti-gender neutral stuff when it comes to shopping for baby showers. We were late finding out our gender so everything on our registry was gender neutral. We got some complaints, but some people managed to find some really cute items like these crib sheets with matching receiving blankets

Hope your guest do manage to get creative!

Haha I've gotten this question too. Well... I spent hours putting together  a couple of lists of ideas to buy me.... I mean if you don't want to buy off the registry that's totally fine, but if you want ideas from me, here are my two lists of ideas!

I got that...and now after my shower, friends and family that couldn't make it are asking what to buy. I just keep saying the check out the registries for ideas of what I need/want. They mumble a little but this is my first baby, I don't know exactly what I need or what I'll use!! Lol, good luck  :)

I got this type of question a lot because I didn't have very many "fun" items on my registry.  I usually just told people that I'm sure whatever they chose I would love and really just appreciate the thought.

It's so weird because some people hate being told what to buy and others feel lost without direction.

You obviously can't please everyone.  I was team green and so was a lot of couples in my family...so my family was used to generic items.  I had a registry and if people didn't want to use it then they could use their imagination.  I just told them I needed EVERYTHING.  LOL  Maybe they got the hint becauses many of them bought from the registry.

In a way I envy you, because I get sort of the opposite. I get the " I had four kids, I know what you really need, I don't need a registry or ideas! You don't know what you want and need, you're a FTM! "

I  had a friend tell my husband (at our couple's shower) that we didn't have enough things on our registry.  He was irritated that we didn't have enough of a selection.  I had 95 items on there! Not to mention that they have two little boys already, if they didn't like what I'd picked out, why couldn't they just get something they'd think we'd like/need?

Yeah, someone who's had two ought to have been able to come up with something, using the registry as a guideline of your tastes, maybe?

I think there should be a nontacky way to let people know there are things you don't need....I guess absence of them from your registry is the only way. I was handed down a lot of things, therefore, most things in there are fairly inexpensive. The people to whom I was very generous to in the past are now stumped, to which I say, sorry! This is a good problem to have! :.

Heads up BRU registry has been down for days.

Her: What do you want?

Me: Something off the registry.

Her (who I ran into at BRU shopping for another shower): Oh I never buy off the registry, I just buy whatevers cute.

Me: Well theres a lot of cute stuff here!  (Thinking why did you ask.)

Anyways I have the same problem, but now because the registry is down.

At this point, would love to say, "flannel sheets, queen size", or "new cookware" or "nice bath towels" or "men's and ladies footwear, sz 11", then fill up the back of my perfect condition subaru and drive it all down to elderly relatives in Queens, whose ground level home and car were flooded w sewage tainted water last week. cry

Can't do much, until its all cleaned out and walls redone, otherwise I'd be there already.
