Reflux Help

I took my DD to the pedi, because she had begun to puke allot... about 12 oz per day and getting worse. This had been going on all week, but started about a month ago with it only happening a few times a week. Her pedi said her reflux is acting up again (had it bad when she was younger but have had no issues since she was 6months) But they won't put her on any medication since it doesn't bother her. She has not gained any weight this month and I think it is part of this problem. She has always been a very hard to feed baby - I told them that she is not refusing to eat now, but it is only a matter of time and she will. Well today it has started, She took the bottle this morning and then puked shortly after she finished, she took her baby food and the 3rd bite in she puked and then refused to eat any more, her bottle this afternoon she puked about a min in and has refused to eat or drink anything since. I will be taking her back in to the pedi on monday. But until then is there a dif type of formula that can help with her reflux (she has always been on enfacare doc would never let us change) I am at my wits end and just want her to not be afraid to eat. I am hoping there is something I can do to help her or do you know of any type of food she can eat that won't create this problem.

you need to get a second opinion and/or go to a specialist. My DD had issues with reflux and we had to go to occupational therapy to get her to eat. She would throw up if certain textures even touched her lips (like scrambled egg or yogurt). She lost weight from 18 months to 2 year appointment and we started her on pediasure.

Occupational therapy helped A LOT but if they are not on meds the issue/anixety will only get worse. My DD would have a panic attack at just the sight of food...even if it was not for her! Toddlers with Reflux can even damage their esophagus and there were kids with feeding tubes at her center because the parents thought "they would outgrow it on their own." If it hurts to eat, they just stop eating and have a negative association!

She now eats almost everything with no anxiety! With pediasure she is now 50% for weight (now we do 80% regular milk and 20% pediasure) but go with your gut. My instinct was telling me something wasn't right and there is a difference between my daughter and just a picky eater.

I agree with the earlier post; second opinion is needed. We've had DS on Zantac prescribed by a GI specialists bc he was vomiting a lot at 8/9 months old-- much more than what he did when he was real little. The Zantac made a huge difference and for the first time this week we are trying to see how he does without it. Try to see a Pedi GI who's more experienced with this type of thing. We'll continue with Zantac if the vomiting comes back.
