We too switched from Newborn Enfamil to Gentle Ease for the same reasons and our daughters stool sounds exactly the color and consistency of your sons. I mentioned to the nurse that it was like a green/gray clay soft serve sort of a look and she said that's good! Towards the end of some diaper changes, not all, she will shoot out that more watery grainy consistency poop so no worries! She goes maybe once every day or day a half, which again they told me is normal and the reason it sounds like she's straining. I guess it's because the baby gets the urge to push and at the same time, clenches their bum hole, getting all confused, causing the strain and gas. You are doing everything right! :)
