Suggestions ?

I need suggestions for what baby can sleep in while he's in our bedroom.

Since I'll be breastfeeding I'd like him in the room with us so I can easily get up and feed him and go back to bed. His nursery isn't that far away but I think that when he gets here I'll want him near me.

I was thinking about getting a bassinet but most of the ones I've seen are fairly high (and a little pricey), while our bed is set pretty low.

We just bought a swing, do you think it's safe to have the swing in the bedroom with us?

Can he sleep in a bouncer?

You're going to be better off getting something like a Rock N Play or a pack N Play. We bought the rock n play in plans to use it as the "bassinet" but LO hated it. We were lucky we received the pack in play as a gift! (I originally didn't want one). We set it up and it fits right beside my side of the bed. It had a changer attached to the top that was just annoying so we didn't use that  part. But he still sleeps in the pack N play now at 5 months and he's less than a foot away.

This is the one we have- http://www.amazon.com/Graco-Playard-Reversible-Napper-Changer/dp/B005UV0UCM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1352008011&sr=8-3&keywords=graco+pack+n+play

The baby can sleep in the top part until 15 pounds, and the next part until 30, then the bottom part after that but I'm not sure what the weight limit on the bottom is. I'm in love with this thing and I'm SO glad we were gifted one.

Look into a fisher price rock and play (dd slept in hers for about 12 weeks) or an arms reach cosleeper.  Both are cheaper and smaller than a traditional bassinet.  Or you could use the PNP as pp mentioned.

We will be using the Bassinet that comes with the UPPAbaby Vista (a stroller system) along with their bassinet stand in our bedroom for the first few weeks. Then we will transfer him to the crib. Our PnP won't fit in our bedroom.

I'm using the Arm's Reach mini co-sleeper for the 2nd time and it's working out great.  I keep all the sides up, so it's like a free standing bassinet.

Our little man was very picky about where he slept. We tried a bassinet and a pack n play but he wouldn't sleep in either. We've had the best luck with a travel crib. It's wooden and smaller than a normal crib but bigger than a bassinet. It has wheels, has bars instead of fabric so you can see through to him, and it's made of wood and folds up flat so you can lay it under your bed. It has worked out perfectly for us, I am also breast feeding so when he wakes up to eat all I have to do is get up and get him then lay back down in the bed. I don't reccommend putting him in a bouncer or a swing to sleep because he may turn that into a habit and then never want to sleep in a crib!

We did this with DS for the first 6 weeks, only that with the bassinet from our chicco travel system, and will do the same with this baby

I was always nervous about the safety of bassinets since they have so much fabric and aren't required to meet the safety standards of cribs.

I would go with a pack and play, because you'll get more use out of it later. Another option, which we went with, is a cradle. It's bigger than a bassinet but smaller than a crib and all wood so no airflow restrictions. Ours can also rock, which is nice if baby starts to fuss during the night. You can just reach out and rock it a little.

Thanks ladies. We are looking into a Rock N Play since there isn't a lot of room left on my side of the bed.
