Dec 1st wedding what to wear??

I have a little less than 4 weeks to find a dress for a wedding we're attending. I'll be 21 weeks when we go. I don't want to spend a lot on a maternity dress, so what are my other options? Do you think a maxi dress could look frumpy? I'm 5 feet but I'll be wearing heels

a cute empire waist dress might be comfortable at 21 weeks... that's what I will be wearing to a baptism at 20 weeks... its from Khols, the Lauren Conrad collection.

I was at Target yesterday and they have some really cute dressy/not to dressy maternity dresses and a bunch on sale! Perfect for a wedding :) GL!

What about something simple like black dress pants and a cute maternity top with a sweater?

Do you have any consignment stores near you?  A lot of them have a fabulous section of maternity clothes and you might be able to find a great dress for not a lot of money.

I'm going to a wedding that night too! I plan on wearing a wrap dress so that no matter what size my bump is, it should still fit and look good :)

Check out Old Navy.  I just ordered a casual dress from there for $15, but they have others that would be more wedding appropriate...and they're on sale right now.

I was going to mention the Target dress line. I wore a dark purple dress they sell to a wedding a few weeks ago. (Bought the dress b/c I figured it would provide growing room and could be used for multiple events.) It was perfect. I got lots of compliments from close friends at the wedding. Wish I would have gotton a pair of cute leggings to go under it though. ;)

GL, and happy shopping!

Any wrap dress should fit just fine at that point!

Motherhood is actually pretty affordable. If you have an empire-waist dress that might work too :)

Unfortunately, I do not have a Target (I'm not in America) and I don't have a Motherhood. I guess I'll just wander the malls and look.

(I wasn't sure if you are in Russia)

They do have online ordering (internationally and to pretty much any country). The sizes are based on your pre-pregnancy size and are pretty true.

For a wedding at 24 weeks, I wore a non-maternity dress in a style and a fabric that worked with a little room to spare. (The dress had a near-empire waist with an a-line skirt, plus a stretchy lining - some a-line or full-skirted dresses still have a tailored lining in a non-stretchy material, so beware of that.)

I bought it at 18 weeks and it fit fine 6 weeks later, so hopefully yours will be the same.

Fyi, I am 5'3, bought the dress 2 sizes bigger than usual when I'd already had a 10 pound weight gain, and I wore it with no issues after I'd gained 6 more pounds.

I agree with this. I wouldn't wear a maxi dress with heels... and I feel like that's just a more casual look, especially if it's a jersey material. I would look for something with an empire waist and you should be fine. I'm almost 18 weeks and can still fit in some of my normal clothes, so I'm sure you could get your bump into that... and it might be something you could still wear later, when you aren't pregnant anymore.

As for the person who suggested that you wear pants, I think a girl wearing pants to a wedding is 100% inappropriate.

it IS a casual wedding - they aren't even having a wedding party (no best man/maid of honor), it's going to be fairly small and intimate. When I asked the bride about attire she just said "whatever you want"

I went to a similar one last weekend: no wedding party, held in a private home, bride wore a cocktail dress.

One of the pregnant guests wore slim black ankle-length slacks (cotton sateen, it looked like) and a dressy top (silk with an embroidered yoke) with heels. She looked lovely, and I heard her get lots of compliments on her outfit - I admired it myself! If you already have something like that, I say wear it. And if the bride doesn't care, and you want to wear a maxi dress, just make sure it's appropriate for the time of day and you'll be fine. (In other words, don't wear a sundress style to an evening wedding, and don't wear sequins at 10:00 a.m.) If your outfit is within the general parameters of a party held at that time of day, wear it with pride!

Sidenote: I wouldn't wear slacks to a church wedding, no matter how casual, unless it was a very last minute event on a weekday. To a church event, I'd wear whatever I'd usually wear to that kind of church at that time of day.

Target has several options for under $40.

Sorry, just read that you do not have a Target.

i would go with the maxi dress and if you feel frumpy, put a belt above your belly. i think it's an adorable pregnant look and maybe you'll score an extra piece of wedding cake because people will be able to see you're pregnant.
