Please tell me you have this too...

I am 35 weeks and my OB has officially freaked me out by recommending that I go see a neurologist. I've had two episodes of these weird mini-strokes that are not normal (blurry vision, unable to form sentences for 5-10 minutes), but what's got him concerned is that a couple times a week my vision goes fuzzy and my finger tips go numb. It only lasts 15 minutes or so, and then its done.

That could be ANYTHING, right?? Baby sitting on the wrong nerve? Bad circulation? Stress? I have low BP so it's not PreE. And no other crazy symptoms.

I can't get in to see the new doc until Monday, and I'm sure he'll make me do an MRI or something terrifying.

Anyone have calming words or "oh, I have this and it's nothing" scenarios to share?

All I can say is that MRIs are not terrifying, just noisy!  Good luck!

A few years ago I had episodes where I had blurry vision and my fingers would go numb. I went to the neurologist and had an MRI (not scary at all). He said that I was suffering from ocular migraines. I was going through a lot of stress in my life at the time and the migraines went away once I started ridding the stress from my life.

There could be many explanations for what you are suffering from and could definitely be attributable to your pregnancy. I wouldn't spend anytime googling your symptons (often you start stressing about the worst case scenarios)...just wait and see what the doc says. Good luck!

This sounds stressful, so I'm sorry that you're dealing with this. You're going to be taking care of a newborn baby soon, who will be totally dependent. Take care of this, so you can be the mom you want to be. It doesn't do any good to be afraid-- take charge of this, learn all you can, get results, get a plan. For your baby's sake..

GL!

I had this with my first to a degree.  My vision would go from great to all fuzzy with white spots for about an hour.  It would freak me out.  It happened towards the end of my 3rd tri and the doctor kept it on monitor.  I didn't have the fingertip numbness, but I did have trouble focusing and forming sentences.  The vision could be due to increased fluid levels in your body including your eye.   Mine cleared right after I had the baby and haven't had it since.  I am almost 3rd tri now with my second and haven't had those episodes yet.  I would take charge of it and get it checked out.  It is probably nothing but increased fluid levels but just be safe and go get it checked!

This! I got them while pregnant with my little man. I had them a hand ful of times. I never had them before being pregnant. I've had one since giving birth.

I have a fainting problem where I also lose my vision for several minutes, before and afterwards.  It's just related to low normal blood pressure and I have triggers like pain, panic attacks, getting overheated, etc.  I've had the MRIs, EEGs and everything.  It can be scary but it always ends up being nothing more than simple fainting.  Good luck.  I hope it's nothing.

I've also seen a neurologist this pregnancy!  I had a similar episode.  My vision went all weird and my fingertips and lips went numb.  The OB scheduled me to see a neurologist.  The neurologist was not concerned at all.  He said it was an "atypical migraine" (no actual 'head' ache) and that it can happen when pregnant".  He said the numbness was probably anxiety related.  My blood pressure was/is normal.  Since it happened I've been having more vision problems - floaters, flashes randomly.  I also saw an opthamologist and retinal specialist and both said not to worry after a full exam.

So everyone/every situation is different and I recommend you follow up with the neuro for peace of mind but mine ended up being nothing to worry about.  Although I still worry anyway - but I'm a hypochondriac by nature so I'm the worst person to have "nothing" happen to!
