STM's please come in: baby favouring left side?

Hi everyone,

as I'm getting nearer to my EDD, baby is definitely head-down, which is great.  But it seems like most of his movements are on the left side.  When I sleep on my left side I get all kinds of what feels like him protesting for being slept on.  When I sleep on my right side, there's way less movement.

Im starting to wonder if I should be concerned about this for labour.  My OB has been pretty clear she believes baby is head-down and not transverse, but it still feels weird to me that most movement is on the left.  Any suggestions on what this might mean and If I should have any concerns?

Ds favored my right side so much that my bump was actually lopsided! He was head down :) Maybe your LO is just cozy and he prefers one side vs the other. Don't stress unless your OB is concerned.

Especially if baby is head down there's really nothing to worry about here.  Just because right now baby tends to face a certain side doesn't mean they won't be in optimal positioning (head down, facing mom's back, with chin tucked) for labor/delivery.  Obviously flipping from breech to head down takes more room and effort than it does for them to turn from their side to facing your back, KWIM?

I'm 35w today.  Baby has been head down for a few weeks, but his body is firmly implanted in the right side of my ute.  MW said babies just get comfy sometimes and like to hang out in the same place.  As long as s/he's head-down, I don't see anything to worry about.

Honestly it doesn't really matter right now.  In fact, it doesn't matter at anytime.  Obviously the ideal way is head down.  My midwife has found that right sided at the time of labor means fast births- which in the case of my first 2 (I'm pregnant with #3) has been correct.  My babies always sit on my right side during pregnancy and labor and I have less than 4 hour births (I do natural births so no inductions).

My DS prefered my right side and the LO also seems to prefer that side. Just as long as the head is down I wouldn't worry. As baby descends into your pelvis further they shoft more midline.

lurking::

when I had dd she would go on the right side so high it was like a mountain.. just whatever they prefer.  no need to worry- they move around a bit and less space.  I have 4 kids and never had this happen before until my last.

This baby and my last one both favour the left side.

I sleep on my left so maybe that's it?

I also have a lot more swelling in my left ankle than my right. MW said it was because of where the baby was.

While DS was in the perfect head down face back position the entire pregnancy, new baby girl has been in the right side of my stomach in the breech position the whole pregnancy until a few days ago.

Just a day or two ago, she moved transverse, with her head slightly lower left, bum down toward my back on the lower right side, and legs up and to the right.

While I'm hoping she continues to move into the head down position, I definitely think it is normal for them to find a spot they like and nestle in.  :)

DS favored my left side and during labor was so far to the left side that my belly was lopsided. DS was born happy and healthy vaginally.
