Severe hip pain?

I've been feeling a really annoying sharp pain on both sides of my hips.
It doesn't matter which side I sleep on.
if I sleep on my left, my left hip hurts. I sleep on my right, my right side hurts.
it kills to lift up my hips or legs at all, so I have to keep tossing and turning every half hour.

Does anybody have this same issue when sleeping?
and is it normal?

Yup. I have the exact same problem. I was told its from the hormone relaxin that gets produced to relax the ligaments in your hips in preparation for birth...just another joy of pregnancy!

Yes my hips really bother me while sleeping!!  I'm not sure mine is quite as bad as yours but they really do bother me a lot at night.

I was experiencing intense pain at 35 weeks, but I've started chiropractic adjustments of my pelvis to help my breech baby flip and it's been night and day. I'm sleeping happily and no more pain while walking or sleeping. I highly recommend getting an adjustment.

I hate the hip pain with passion. The pillow in between the legs has helped some... until I fall asleep and it gets lost among the sheets..

Yep! In the same boat with the rest of you ladies. In fact, my left hip hurts most of the time. The dr told me it was sciatic pain and I could take Tylenol if it bothered me to bad (I haven't done that yet) but that it wouldn't get any better till I delivered

Me too!! A folded-in-half pillow (so it's thicker) in between my knees helps, but I can only use it part of the night instead of all night or my hips hurt just as bad. I keep it right next to the bed so that when I get up for one of my midnight potty breaks, I can throw it in for a few hours until I lose it or get tired of it, and that compromise keeps the pain at bay best. Good luck!

i started with massive hip pain at 5 months... im 30 weeks now and it has only gotten worse. I sleep with a fluffy pillow under my butt so when i roll side to side at night it helps cushion the hips. I have also recently invested in a long body pillow as well. I do not sleep much as the pain and constant tossing and turning keep me awake at night.. i generally get 3-4 hours of straight sleep. the rest of the time i'm wide awake. I hope I can get back to a better sleep schedule after baby comes.

I feel like I haven't slept at all in these 30 weeks!
