Slowing of BM's

My 4 week old hasn't had a BM in almost 2 days. He's passing plenty of gas and is nursing and going pee normally.  I called the nurse line to see if this was normal and waiting for a call back but wanted to see what you all have experienced with this.

Our pediatrician does not get worried until it's been over 10 days between BMs unless baby seems really uncomfortable (FYI- he once had a baby go 18 days between BMs with no issues). He says it's normal for any baby, even BF babies to have the frequency of BMs slow down as their digestion regulates. I'm just guessing that as long as LO is still passing gas and seems happy, they'll just have you watch and wait.

It's normal for BF babies to go less frequently.  They use almost everything in breastmilk so once every 7-10 days is not uncommon.  The same thing happened to DD, she started pooping less frequently, about every 10 days or so.  It has become a little more frequent since she started solids.

If you are breastfeeding then its nothing to worry about. My pedi said that if they haven't gone after a week then call but until then there is nothing to worry about. Also newborns go A LOT the first couple of weeks then the slow down several weeks later. Mine would go during every feeding at first and now at 9 1/2 weeks she only goes once or twice a day.
