Old Wives' Tale

So I was getting my hair done this weekend and I was talking to my beautician about this pregnancy compared to me last and how they are completely opposite.  Another client over heard us talking and said 'Sorry to interrupt or intrude on your conversation, but I think you are having a girl.'  I asked her why she thought that.  She told me 'Baby boys give beauty to their mothers and baby girls take beauty from their mothers.'

I had to kind of chuckle because I with my son I wasn't sick at all and clear complexion the whole pregnancy.  With this pregnancy, I am sick all the time, migraines and I am breaking out all over.

 Anyone else ever heard this one before?

With my girl I was not sick at all, maybe a bit queasy once or twice but really nothing, and I never broke out. With this baby I was crazy sick, and broke out in the first tri and he is a boy. With my other two boys I was slighty sick, and didn't break out.

 I have heard of that, but it wasn't true for me.
Mom to 4 cute kids! 8 yo girl 6 yo boy 4 yo boy and new baby boy!

These OWTs are so ridiculous. With DS, I was a sweaty, swollen, broken out mess.

I've heard that OWT before, but I was swollen had terrible acne and not m/s with DS. I hear every pregnancy is different...

Heard them but certainly isn't true for me. With my first son, easy wonderful pregnancy, clear skin, minimal weight gain, had the "pregnancy glow". This one sick the whole time, sweaty mess,  still on Zofran and it's another boy.

I've heard it. I don't think it's any more reliable than most OWTs.

With DD, I was a freaking train wreck. Super sick and throwing up, horrible skin, no cravings, major heartburn. So far this time, I'm still battling all day nausea, but it's different. I am better off with something in my stomach and no actual throwing up yet, and I'm having cravings often already. My skin is clear and no other symptoms to speak of other than the sore boobs and crampiness, which comes with most pregnancies. Overall, my pregs are pretty similar.

Meh. I'm starting to think I'm having another girl because of the similarities. But maybe the slight differences mean something. We'll see.

I've heard it and I think it's silly. Babies can't give or take beauty and I know people who have been very sick and not well looking with boys as well as girls. I think it's an awful old wives tale.

With my daughter I was super sick and broke out like a teen until I gave birth, this time the m/s is a fraction if I even want to call it that and my complexion has remained the same as if I wasn't pregnant, but I have no idea what I'm having this time around... only time will tell if that OWT is true!

Dumb and not true. My skin was horrid when I was pg with DS, breakouts constantly. Giving me beauty my asss.

OWT are total crap, and I speak from experience.  Haha.  I had EVERY single OWT for a baby girl, and we got an XY chromosome with our cvs results! :)

And also, why do people have absolutely no filter around pregnant women?  I would have told her she must be having a girl, too, because she looks horrible.

May '12 - Put adoption on hold after nephew's death.
July '12 - Matched with a birthmom. Match fell through.
August '12 - Matched with a birthmom. Match fell through.
Took break from adoption. Got pregnant!
