Do I need this?

Hey I am jumping over from 3T to ask those of you with outside babies if I should buy this before the baby is born? I am starting to panic a bit and make sure I have everything I need but I also don't want to waste our hard earned money! Thanks for your input!

I bought it and then returned it. The fact that you have to suck the snot out weirded me out and plus you have to buy refills and its pricey.

Lol, absolutely not. You can be just as effective with a bulb.

I don't think it's needed. I've only used a bulb syringe three times in the past 8 weeks. I might think differently once he had a cold.

I love ours. My LO caught a cold at 4 weeks old and the bulb we had it came in a safety kit from BRU did not work at all. There is a foam filter thing in the Nosefrida so there is no way you would get anything in your mouth. It worked amazing and she was able to breathe so much better after! Well worth it in my opinion!

We bought one.  We still haven't used it, but when DS1 was little he HATED the bulb syringe.  I've heard great reviews on the nose frieda from friends with LOs under 1 year right now.

I think if you run into frequent problems, the nosefrida is more effective than the bulb syringe.  But most babies don't need suction very often.  As long as they're breathing okay, there's no reason to stick something up their nose!! I haven't suctioned my LO once yet.

I agree, we used 3 different bulb syringes and none of them worked on my LO. i think if you dont have a breathing/congestion issue then its not necessary but one of my girls has congestion and we suction 1x per day. The bulbs did nothing but make her scream. Hopefully you wont need it but I personally couldnt be without it. When someone first described it to me I thought she was crazy but it really has been helpful.

You sure don't! The little bulb thing from the hospital works just fine (even if LO hates it).

I hope no offense is taken, but everyone that answered "No" has one LO and that LO probably hasn't had a cold yet.  I wouldn't use it for everyday congestion, but it's a necessity for colds.  I remember DS1's first cold and I had that overnighted b/c I was so desperate.  That thing is amazing when your baby is sick and needs relief.

Haha! I have never seen/heard of this before! Looks weird. I would say no because I bet I am not the only mom who hasn't heard or seen this before and they some how survived without it.

Do you NEED it? No.

I have something similar though, and I LOVE it! LO's nose has to be mucusy for it to work (dry snot won't move). The bulb ones just don't get anything out for us.

That being said. In 9 months, my DD has only been sick enough to use it twice.

I am starting to think that I need this!  My LO is congested a lot and he hasn't even had his first cold yet, though he might be on the cusp of having one.  The review by Moobs is hilarious though - you should check that out at least!  Smile
