New RE vs delay in treatment...WWIFD??

Hey ladies! SO...I asked you all your opinions a bit ago regarding possibly changing REs...

We met with the new RE yesterday and it went very well.  He pointed out (albeit as a Monday-morning QB) some things with my first cycle which he thinks *may* have led to our crappy outcome. He gave me some ideas on how he would run the next attempt differently.  He addressed DH's issues and referred us to a new urologist.  He was on the same page with us as to the total FU (in our opinion) about the swimmers used the first time around...all in all, a very good (2.5 hour) appointment.

The flip side is that this office group-starts their cycles (which my previous office didn't do) and they start in Dec and the next start won't be until Feb.  He's not sure if we would be able to get in to the Dec start with the stuff we have pending and with when I expect AF, so that may mean delaying until Feb (yikes) with only one possible way around it which I wasn't entirely keen on because it means going through 2 offices and possibly 2 different docs.

So...my question is what would you ladies do? Go back to the first RE where I wasn't 100% on board after our failed cycle or risk the crazy 3 month delay?? I'm so confused!!

Thanks to you all for always lending an ear!!

In all honestly, I would delay.  I promise when you are comfortable with your doctor and his office it's so much easier.  I know it sucks.  BIG (HUGS)) cause IF sucks!

This is kinda how I'm leaning...especially with the miserable failure we had round 1.  I am soooo torn about leaving my current RE...I have known her for 12 years...she was one of my professors and my go-to RE when I refer patients for IF.  I see great results from her (with everyone but me) and lots of them on the first attempt. I just feel like she dropped the ball with me and rather than being gung-ho about round 2, I was really feeling a little apprehensive.  I guess that's answer enough, but I'm still confused.  Maybe I just need to hear that I shouldn't feel bad about leaving her...I feel like I'm cheating, lol!

Thanks for the input!

Personally, I would delay.  We are actually going for an appointment for a second opinion tomorrow.  My cycle would only be delayed to December, but it is important to me to feel 100% on board and comfortable with my RE.  To me, the piece of mind during the cycle would make the wait worth it.  February is far away, so I can imagine it would be a really hard decision to make.

I would also delay.  Its better to be with a doctor you feel comfortable with and have to wait a few more months.

100% agree with this. If I were you I would definitely delay a few months to ensure I was comfortable with the RE and protocol they were suggesting. Waiting totally sucks, but you being comfortable is WAY more important than that (although it might not seem that way now). GL with whatever you decide!

We are OOP, so there's no doubt waiting until February would be my decision.  It would suck to wait, but going into a cycle with an RE I wasn't 100% confident in would suck even more.

If I had endless IF coverage, I would probably cycle with the current RE in the meantime because I am AMA.

A three month break might be nice, particularly over the holidays.  Good luck with making your decision.

Personally I would delay. I was in a similar situation with an old RE. He was good but I was not thrille with him. We changed to a new RE which caused a 2.5 month delay in cycling again but it was worth it. I did not get a BFP but he was the first RE to actually get me to stim and to an IUI.

I know it's tempting to cycle again ASAP, but if things don't go well will you regret not waiting? I have been in your shoes and its very tough, but I knew I needed to move on to a new RE who I was more comfortable with. Good luck with whatever you choose!!

If you want to go with the new RE, I wouldn't be concerned with the delay, because in the grand scheme of things, a couple of months is not a big deal.

Married 8/2008. IVF with PGD March 2013.
3/22 ER: 25R, 20M, 15F. 9 genetically normal, and 3 survived to Day 5
3/27 ET: transferred 1 embryo, beta 9dp5dt=163, 12dp5dt=639

***TICKER***

Honestly, I'd wait and cycle with the RE you're most comfortable with and that you think would give you the very best chance at success.  I you really believe that the 2nd RE is going to be more responsive to the issues that may have affected your first cycle, then a three month wait is definitely worth it (IMHO).

I agree with a lot of the PPs. I know three months seems like a long time, but the tradeoff is a RE you're more comfortable with and a protocol you can get behind. If you feel like your previous RE dropped the ball, run don't walk outta there. Failed cycles just take something out of you.

TTC #1 for about 3.5 years
ME: 37, PCO, immune issues?, teflon uterus (my added diagnosis)
HIM: 38, Perfect. (Showoff.)
Month before starting Clomid, spontaneous pregnancy. m/c at 7 weeks and D&C.
Four months of Clomid, one IUI, with Intralipid each cycle: BFNs all
IVF 1.0 July 2012 -- Lupron, bravelle, menopur, estrogen, progesterone supps, intralipid. 14 ER, 14 fertilized, 1 blast transferred, 2 on ice. BFN
FET 1.1 -- 10/2, transferred our 2 blasts. Lupron, PIO, estrogen, baby aspirin, prednisone. BFN.
IVF 2.0 December 2012 -- Bravelle, Menopur, Ganirelix, Prednisone, Metformin, estrogen, progesterone supps. 22 eggs retrieved on 12/14, 17 mature, 15 fertilized. OHSS anticipated so ET cancelled. 3 embryos frozen.
Broke up with old RE. Moving on to new dude. Maybe the change of scenery will be just the trick for our frosties. On BCPs for possible April FET.

Thank you ladies! I guess I just needed to hear that I wasn't over reacting to the first failed cycle by running away from my RE! Who knows...maybe I can get in sooner than february...

Thanks again!

I would delay if you feel confident that the new doctor will take care of you. This give DH time to go to the urologiest. I understand not wanting to delay, but I would want you to rush either because IVF is stressful enough and adding a mountain more isnt healthy.
