pregnant and not hungry

I took a pregnancy test a week ago and it came out positive, according to the symptoms, I'm about 7weeks along now, me and my husband will be seeing a OB soon, but what I want to find out is if this is normal.... I'm just not hungry. Sometimes I will be hungry but when I eat, 2 bites or so then I'm full... My husband begs me to eat just one more bite but I'm so full/not hungry anymore that I can't stand to swallow it.

It's normal. I was like that too during the first tri. That and a few bites of food I'd almost fall asleep if get so tired lol. You'll more than likely want food later on. And I mean a lot lol.

This.

Dinner tonight was the first full meal I haven't forced myself to eat in over a week. Just try small snacks throughout the day, get enough fluids, and make sure to take your vitamins.

Also, I find avoiding strong-smelling foods helps a little. Sometimes, I'm hungry, get myself some food, then get a whiff of something (like someone else's onion rings), and lose my appetite. Bland food might be your friend for awhile.

I'm not hungry either but I wouldn't worry about it as long as you are taking a daily prenatal vitamin. You don't need to be "eating for two" until 2nd tri and even then it's only an extra 300-500 calories a day.

I was the same way in my 1st tri and I lost about 15 lbs...I was overweight so it was ok. I ended up gaining about 30 lbs by the end of 3rd tri though.

i've lost my appetite as well; it comes and goes.. but im definitely not eating what I use to eat prior to being pregnant. im eating yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, baked potatoes, and chicken noodle soup. nothing else seems appetizing.. plus its all good for you so im not worried. My husbands been yelling at me the past month because i haven't made dinner.. i tell him i wont be able to eat it.

That's sounds like me, potatoes, yogurt and salty crackers is all that I can seem to get in me without feeling like I want to choke. I'm glad this is normal, I know I'm not the only one but I feel scared sometime not knowing what's going on with me sometimes. Thanx for everyone who have put my mind at ease xxx

I was that way when I was pregnant with DS.  Do not worry- you will regain your appetite (mine came back strong in my 2nd Tri).  Just eat when you feel like, as much as you can without forcing it-make sure you try to drink so you don't get dehydrated and take your vitamins.  You may want to drink one of those drinks like "ensure" or something like it to get nutrients.

im not gonna make a huge dinner if im not going to eat it; it'll sit in the fridge for a month. I was making dinner everyday; now i make it 1x a week, and i'll make breakfast and lunch for him on the weekends. I'll eat dinner later and he'll make something in the microwave or oven. Its about time he makes food for himself.. i've been making it ever since I moved in.. before i got preggo he made dinner twice in a year and a half.

I agree with many of the PPs - just make sure to eat when you *do* feel hungry, whenever that is.

I've found I have a pretty strong aversion to meat at the moment, so I've been trying to make meals without meat.  There are also a couple things that I can stand to eat (chips and salsa at the moment) - so if all else fails, I just make myself snack on that for the calories.

Hopefully like many PPs have said it will go away during 2nd tri.  I miss enjoying eating.

good for you!  get your Dh in the habit of cooking now.  My Dh will only grill - which is only in the summer here in WI...  So I'm in the kitchen every day - and with DS I have to cook every day - & then I turn into a short-order cook b/c he usually doesn't want what we're eating..  I'm tired of it - I've had it with the kitchen.  I told DH he needs to make dinner once/week;  I don't care if it's just eggs or pizza.
