How to Heat a Bottle When Traveling?

Hi Guys,

In travelling finding a way to heat your baby's bottle can be a challenge. Whether baby drinks breast milk or formula, heating the nutritious liquid while parents away from home is a priority. So, anyone knows how to heat a bottle in travelling, please share here.

Thanks in advance!

This post is totally weird, but in the off-chance you are not about to try to sell us sumshit, I'll answer.

DH is on formula now, and depending on where we are, I will usually stop and get some hot water from a coffee place, and mix it with some cooler water (hot water at a coffee place is a billion degrees).  I then mix in the formula and walla... bottle ready to go.

If we are just going out on errands and he'll need a bottle while we're out, I'll heat the water beforehand, put it in one of those thermal bottle pods, and then mix the bottle whenever he needs it.

Breastmilk (assuming it's not coming straight from the boob and has been pumped into a bottle) is totally different, because you need to keep it cold until it's time to heat it.  When DS was still breastfed, we used a bottle warmer at home.  While we were out, I'd put the bottle in a cup of hot water and let it rest for a while until it warmed up.

Travel bottle warmers suck and are an enormous waste of money.

I'm jealous.  DS likes his bottles so freaking hot they are almost boiling.  I'm dreading trying to transition to WCM because it's a cooler temperature.

I agree with Hilarity that this post is a little weird, but I'll still answer.

When we travel, I bring a thermos of hot water with us to mix with formula. I'll have a bottle of room temp. or cold water on-hand just in case the thermos is too hot, so I can get it to the right temp.

Both of my kids are milk snobs and will only drink it if it is very warm.

If you are traveling in a car, you can get a car bottle warmer that you plug into the cigarette lighter. I will warn you, they usually take awhile to heat up, but you can usually anticipate when you are going to need a bottle.

If you can stop at a restaurant, I usually just ask a server to heat it up or bring a cup of hot water that I can put the bottle in to warm it.

I learned my lesson with baby #2. She never had a warm bottle :) room temp only. I also didn't BF this one- just pumped so she never had anything warm to get used to like my first. But my first, I just got her used to it. Was too hard...

I don't warm her bottles - she takes them room temp or cold.

I do room temp bottles too. I just bring a bottle of water in my diaper bag and mix it when ready. Thanks to DH my little guy is not picky. When he was like 6 weeks old he gave him a really cold bottle of BM against my instructions and he took it down like a champ so we never heated it up after that.

same here.  I bought a really good thermos on amazon, and mix it with room temp water.   http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Nissan-12-Ounce-Stainless-Steel-Tumbler/dp/B00004S1CV/ref=sr_1_6?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1352318508&sr=1-6&keywords=nissan+thermos

Just did this during the power outage with hurricaine sandy too.

If LO is hungry/thirsty, they'll drink it cold or room temp. We warmed the BM for the first 6months and now serve cool, but if we're out he gets it cold.
