Our LO's bday is Dec 30th and we just decided to have a birthday party at our house. We initially thought we wouldn't do much but now we've decided to go for it. Once you start googling stuff you'll come up with tons of ideas. I think we are going to do a Snoopy theme. We don't have a big yard so we are going to use our driveway for tables/chairs & maybe even a jumpee for the bigger kids. Also might have a clown come who does face painting & balloons for the bigger kids. Can't wait!!!!

My baby girls birthday is also around the corner (Dec. 19th). I struggled at first also, i had no idea what to do for her 1st birthday. So i just went with her nursery theme. Alice in wonderland. It was really hard choosing a location for a babys birthday party, escpecially in december. So i went with a local park, i live in an apartment and our picnic tables are small so that wasnt going to work. hours are from 12-3pm. i know its early but i figured it will be cold outside so i chose the warmest hours. im making most of her decorations from scratch. got the deco ideas from Etsy. im still unsure about what food to serve for kids and adults. but im sure i'll figure something out.

To answer your question about your lil guys birhtday, I think a small celebration with close family and friends would be nice. you know nothing too big. And then maybe have a half year birhtday party in the summer. Thats what im going to do for my baby girls 2 1/2. it just seems easier. a small dinner as a family and a cake. celebrate christmas stress free. and give ur little one a nice birthday party in summer when the weather is nice and isnt so stressing getting family together.

Again, just a thought. =) Good luck on your planning. Happy holidays and Happy Birthday to your little one.

My DS's birthday is December 27th (so just a day before you), we're planning on having a party with the theme "Look whoo's turning one!" with owls. Most of our family is local, so we were hoping to book a community room and invite them (DH and I both have rather large families, so even with just them it's a bit more than I'd feel comfortable with in my house). We're hoping for the weekend after Christmas, because everyone always has so much going on the weeks before... it just makes more sense to me that we do it after.

We just wanted to make sure to do something, and I'm having fun planning it out anyway. Just go with whatever you feel comfortable doing :)

Our DS turns one Dec 19th. We are doing a small party the weekend before, Dec 15th. The theme is monsters. It will just be immediate family/friends. There will be 13 people total.

Honestly we aren't going to do anything fancy. Just a general party. We will invite family, and friends with babies/younger children that she plays with currently. I designed invites in photoshop, and am basing the colors I choose for the decorations on the invitation. I will be setting up a "cake smash" station with a tablecloth or some kind of patterned fabric in the background for when she eats her cake. aside from that we will probably just serve food and drink and sit around. :)

Our girls are turning one on Dec 6th.  We are doing a party for just immediate family members, which between my family and DH's family is about 60 people.  Our house is too small so my aunt volunteered to have it at her house.  We are going to set up all food and drinks in the basement and then set up some tables and chairs throughout the basement and first floor where the dining room, living room and kitchen are.  We are just going to be getting a few sandwich trays and maybe a big tray of meatballs and rolls.  I'll probably make some pasta salad also.  I am going to be making their birthday cake that they can play with and then i'm going to make a few dozen cupcakes and some cookies and brownies.  Nothing fancy since we are going to be having it start at 1 in the afternoon.
