skio:Cooked sushi is totally fine.
Uncooked sushi is even up for debate. If it's a reputable place and not a particularly high mercury fish, a lot of docs say go for it. It's your choice.
This. There was a recent posting by an FDA scientist who said that fish that's been flash-frozen (which is the case with most reputable sushi restaurants) is safe to eat. It's also a matter of food handling, so stick to places you trust (not sure if other cities publish health dept info, but NYC gives restaurants a letter grade of A-F based on their inspection reports).
That said, my family had sushi the other night and it turned out to be my first food aversion, so there's that angle, too ;-)
