Sending my thoughts out to those of you who have had a rough week :(
Status Update: Where are you currently with the DE/DEmbryo/ GC process?
I had my supression check on tuesday and passed with flying colors! Thin lining, no cysts. Dropped Lupron to 5cc now and starting the Vivelle patch protocol. Still on track for a Dec 7-12 transfer, but apparently our donor 'goes longer' so we're figuring on the later side. We met with the doctor who explained everything to us and we signed consents and paid the piper! Also paid for our donor meds (found better prices too - $2900 total vs. initial $4900 quote!!) and our sperm donor shipment arrived at our clinic this week as well. We have the two parts of our baby all lined up! Now I want that bun mixed up and put in the oven!
Another thing was I asked about providing a gift for our donor and asked the coordinator a bit more of what she was like. It was so awesome to get a little better sense of her - how she dressed, what kinds of colors she wears, her 'vibe' etc. We really wish we could meet her - even if we never said names and stayed anonymous, we'd love if we just got to talk to her for an hour. :( Someday hopefully! In the end it turns out she dresses a lot like me and loves to wear scarves - I am a total scarf girl, so that's what we're going to get her. Not Hermes or anything :) Just a nice one from Nordstrom or something. Did you get your donor a token gift of any kind?
QOTW: What seems to be your clinic’s stance on the number of embryos to transfer? Have you had pressure to only transfer one? Or to transfer more than one? Are there strict rules, or has it been left up to you?
Ours is pretty defined. One embryo if you have a high quality; option of two if you clearly understand the risks. Two embryos if you have lower quality ones, which brings you up to the success rate of one high quality with a lower rate of twins due to the lower quality embie. This is a scenario though our doc asked us to think about between now and then - she said you can always choose just to put 1 in. We do not want twins (unless our embie somehow divided and we had no choice in it...ug!) - so we will likely put in 1 in either case, and do FET (assuming/hoping we get frosties) the following cycle. I love the idea of an insta-family of 2, but we really fear the miscarriage rate, premie rate and daycare costs :) But of course, hoping we just get one super healthy baby!
