Breastfeeding 2 week old ...

Hey ladies, was wondering if anyone could give me some input, DD is breastfeeding about every 2-3 hours, but she seems to only feed on one boob and I burp her then she normally goes to sleep.. This is normal to eat off one side? and I am pumping my other breast that she is not feeding off of at that time, but not pumping till empty since I am trying to keep from being overly engorged and mass producing milk that she really isnt taking in if that makes any sense? Does this sound okay? I switch breast at every feeding, but I am waking her every 2-3 hours during the day and letting her sleep at night, but she only sleeps a total of 5 hours untill she awakes on her own to eat. She still has 2 more oz. to gain by monday to be back to her birth weight. Does it sound like I am doing this right?

Sounds like you are doing awesome! I don't think you have to pump the other breast, but it can't hurt. Just make sure you are switching back and forth. Like you said, don't over do the pumping or you'll start overproducing.

Great job!  If you are worried about those last 2 oz, you can wake at night, after about 4 hours, but w/ only 2 oz left to gain, I don't think you need to stress.

Okay awesome, thanks a lot. I just wanted to hear someone else tell me that I am doing okay, I was just concerned about her not feeding on the other boob, but I do pump the other side just a little cause it fills up and starts to hurt, so i pump enough to make me comfortable again. I just can't wait untill my boobs are back to normal and not being milked anymore! Lol

Sounds exactly how I feed DS. He only feeds on one boob and I don't pump the other. You're good!
