"Sure it's not twins?" vent

I am huge, again, and this is my third pregnancy hearing "are you sure it's not twins?" Yes, if it were 1950, I might think myself that it could be twins. But it is 2012 and I KNOW there is just one baby.

The older ladies in a certain department at work are really bad about it. I usually just smile and be nice, but I'm secretly annoyed when they get really insistent! They keep saying it could be twins, and I wouldn't know, and so-and-so had twins that they didn't see on the ultrasound b/c they were right behind each other. I feel like saying, "You know what? We had some high risk things going on. I have had 2 level II u/s, a fetal echocardiogram, and monthly additional u/s, plus fluid checks and NSTs, and I am measuring just fine, thanks. THERE IS JUST ONE BABY IN ME!

LOL!!! You and me both.. Right when I was at the end of six months, I walked in a gas station and some random man goes, "Wooee girl, you bout to pop!"  And I still had three months to go.

The other one that bugs me is people who swear I'm having a boy because I'm carrying low. For one, she's already dropped. Secondly, I have the ultrasound picture of her hooha. It's most definitely a female.

I"m sorry, it sucks, the constant comments on your physical appearance. I am so ready for everyone I see on a daily basis to stop saying - "Woah! You are SO MUCH bigger than the last time I saw you!" I just wish they would realize that is never ok to call a woman big or huge regardless of how pregnant she is!

I get that ALL the time. I just tell people that I get big when I'm pregnant. Seriously I am huge.

Yup, MIL came over the other day and was adamant that I was having twins because I'm sooooo big, even though I'm not that big. I've gained exactly what's expected, and most of my tops are not maternity. But noooo, her friend was told she was only having one and she had twins. I very nicely told her that, unless they were moving in perfect synchronization during all seven ultrasounds, there was only one in there. She kept pushing it, and DH finally had to get a little firm with her because she was being so annoying.

Haha we have the same MIL!

She is convinced it not only is twins but a girl and a boy. She just has this "feeling" and I am SO BIG that there is no way it isn't twins.

She was also convinced I would go early which didn't happen and now claims she's been saying I'd go late the entire time. Confused

Some people are just idiots :)  Everyone that feels the need to comment on my pregnancy size either says that I'm definitely going early because I'm big or asks me if I'm sure my due date is correct because I'm really small.  Interesting....not sure why so many people need an opinion about our pregnant bodies.  I'm not sure what they think we are supposed to look like, but I have never had a person tell me I look exactly fill-in-the-blank weeks.

Try your best to hang in there, and if you have to resort to telling the work ladies how you really feel, worse things have happened.  A guy at my work last week said something about how we were almost the same size, so I followed it up with, "yea, almost, I'm glad there's a baby in my belly at least."

I'm sure it is super frustrating.

PI have the opposite problem. I carry small and everyone says "you are SO SMALL!!"

It's awkward. I'm not really sure how to respond, I usually just say "yeah, I carried small with my first too".

Even DH is like, wow you think no one has ever seen a woman in her late pregnancy with all these comments.  The freaking nurse at my midwife's office said, are they sure there is only one?  What?!  You work with pregnant women all day and you actually just said that.  I mostly get there is no way you have 5 (less than 4 now) weeks left but either way it is quite annoying.  I think I know how many babies I have in my belly and when my due date is, thank you though for that awesome comment pointing out how big I am.

I've been guilty of saying this to people before I had kids... now I know better to say anything.  Although I do tell them "you look great for being pregnant, I was/am a mess when pregnant" no matter how they look!

*sigh*... I hear this all the time... or "Are you due, like, tomorrow??"

I want to wear a t-shirt everyday that says:

  • I am having ONE baby.
  • It's a BOY.
  • I'm due Jan. 17th - for sure.
  • His name is Patrick.
  • Yes I know my belly/boobs are HUGE (stop staring).
  • And NO, we are not planning on getting married this year.

Now, what else would you like to talk about??

I get this question, and also "are you due any day now?" Multiple times per day.  Today I was told by a complete stranger that I was waddling (which I wasn't, but whatever at ths point).

im not offended like I would be if people were yelling "that's a huge biotch" but it's just awkward.

You look great is definitely my "go to" phrase, even if they look huge. Lol

This!

I swear they have no filters. I picked my MIL up from the airport the other day and while she was walking down the escalator she yelled "OMG you're huge" I was so embarassed. She proceeded to ask if I was sure we only had one baby on the way.

I get that all the time, from my mom even! After I got a 4D ultrasound pic she has quieted down about it being twins, but she still comments on how huge I am. My sister also got really big with her pregnancy, she was definitely bigger than me but for some reason my mom must not remember clearly because she keeps saying I'm bigger. Which is so not true, even my sister agrees. At 24 weeks my mom thought I wouldn't fit in maternity clothes anymore. My stomach is big, but it's not that big! And now I'm 31 weeks and guess what mom, I can still wear some of my regular tops!

At my shower, some people would say I looked so big then the next person to come up to me would say I was still so tiny. And some people say I have gained only in my belly, then how come I can't cram my sausage thighs into my old jeans and I've had to go two sizes up? Maybe my belly is hiding my legs if someone is facing me and standing up? :)

I can't stand people too.  I hate when people ask when I'm due and I say January and they go "oh wow, I didn't think you had THAT long to go!"

You know whats really bad- when someone has had twins and one passed away.  This comment is really awesome (sarcasm) in that situation.  People need to STFU.

My MIL and DH's aunt say this to me EVERY freaking time they see me! It drives me crazy! I know it's because they are twins and have convinced themselves that somehow that might genetically affect our baby (it won't, twins come from the mother's side), and they would love nothing more than 2 more grandbabies... but with multiple ultrasounds and measuring right on target, there is NO WAY. And it's just not funny after the 100th time!
