Which name is best for dd?

I like two names for my daughter, Chloe Nicole and Christian Nicole. I favor Chloe and my husband favors Christian. Which one sounds best to you?

Chloe by default. Christian is a boy's name, though I've known one woman named Christian (I believe she was Croatian so I assume it was an ethnic variation). If you spell it Christiane and pronounce it with the emphasis on the last syllable, I think it's a lovely name.

I agree with PP about Christian being a boy's name. Not fond of Chloe either. Perhaps it's just through personal associations, but all the Chloes I can think of are sort of trashy. It's better than Christian though!

Definitely Chloe.  Christian is a boy's name.  There may be a few girls named Christian, but that doesn't make it less of a boy's name.

Other C names:  Carys, Cara, Cora, Caroline, Claire, Clara, Charlotte, Camille/Camilla, Christina/Christine, Cecilia/Celia

uh - Christian is a boy's name.

Huh.  I would've thought this name was safe from the boy name stealers.

The best name in there is Nicole.....but out of Chloe and Christian....Christian is a boys name, so by default Chloe.

What about Christine, Kristin, or Christina?

Never mind, I wasn't trying to start a girl name versus boy names thing. Was going for pure sound alone. Thanks for your input though.

Christian used to be a feminine name in English-speaking countries (in the 17th and 18th centuries), but it is now used almost exclusively for boys. Usually, names that go over to the girls never go back to the boys, but Christian is a rare exception!

That said, I don't like Christian for anyone. I don't think it's a good idea to mark a child with a religious identifier that's hard to change, like a physical alteration or a name. I do know an atheist named Christian who thinks his name is a great joke. But I don't think it's very respectful of the child or the adult he/she will become.

Chloe.
Christian is considered a boy name. She will either be assumed she was a boy when people see the name or people will assume you meant it to be pronounced like Kristin.

Chloe wins by default. Christian is definitely a boy's name.
