With DS I was flagged as high risk before even getting pregnant because I had the beginning stage of cervical cancer. I had surgery to remove the cancer but still tested positive for HPV. Since having DS I have been free of everything and have had normal paps since my 6 weeks post baby thanks to the hormone changes. The reason for the high risk is due to a now short cervix.
My pregnancy with DS was great until around 23 weeks when I started contracting and went in to preterm labor several times but without changes to my cervix. I carried until 39.2 weeks in which I induced myself due to the misery of PUPPS. I did however have a band of scar tissue that prevented me from dialating. DS ended up breaking through the scar tissue which scared the crap out of me since it caused horrible bleeding. Once he broke through it, I progressed rather quickly. I have asked the doctors about the chances of this happening again but they said they won't be able to tell until I go to deliver.
Here are my fears: I'm ok with having the scar tissue again because it can be broken if necessary which was an option before DS decided to break it himself. I guess I'm more worried about the preterm labor again and this time not having the tissue there to stop dialation. Anyone else experience this?
