EP

Is anyone else out there feeding breastmilk by bottle and not breastfeeding the traditional way?

I started EPing when the baby was about 3 or 4 weeks old.  He's just over 3 months and I'm still doing it and it's going great.

I will say that I think it's easy because I work.  It's harder on the weekends when I'm home with the baby all day and need to keep him occupied for 20 minutes while I pump.  I would think it would be hard for a SAHM.

After a major awful latch and mutilated nipples, I EP. I used to pump every 2 to 3 hours and that was very very hard to do. I now pump every 4 hrs and so far have been able to get what I need but I fear that won't last as long as Id like. I nursed DS1 for a year and there are definitely pros and cons to EP vs nursing. It's working for our family so far though.

EP in the house!! :)  Been doing it for 2 months now and just started back at work, which for me makes it more challenging at this moment. I am trying to get into a good routine with work and pumping but other than that everything is going fine. I actually found it to be easier than nursing. My LO is what I like to call a "fine diner" on the breast she likes to take her sweet, sweet time. I just couldn't handle it. So for me EP was easier. I would suggest to build up a supply while you can (with in those first few weeks when your LO is eating less) I pump just enough for my LO as of now and have started to take Fenugreek to help my milk production. I would also suggest to invest in a hospital grade pump, it makes pumping more efficient.

Welcome to the EP club!

I EPed for 4 months also in addition to saving up 2 months worth of breastmilk to keep her going to 6 months old.  It's a lot of hard work and dedication but totally worth it!

I've been EPing for just over 2months. Breast feeding didn't work for us so this is our "plan B". It's tough & my life revolves around this pump. I'm actually pumping right now. I have a low supply so we supplement during the night. I pump every 2-3 hours around the clock. I'm using a hospital grade pump, Medela Symphony. I will not be going back to work so I can care for my little one. I've tried all the tricks but my supply seems to be unable to increase. I can't wait until I'm done having to pump so much!

For those who EP, what did your schedule look like?  I ask because I only manage to pump about 2 oz total per session, 15-20 min per side, and LO eats twice that in a given feeding.  I drink tons of water, I'm eating well enough, and I take fenugreek.  Any tips you can offer?  I'm not EP, but I BF during the day and give a bottle of formula in the middle of the night, which is when I try to pump.  I really want to get a good stockpile going for when I go back to school next semester, but at this rate I'll never have anything.

I am a SAHM and EP.  I pump 5 times per day, once first thing in the morning when I wake up, once in the late morning/early afternoon, once in the evening, once right before I go to bed and then once after an overnight feeding.  It works out to about once every 3-4 hours with a longer stretch overnight and that has worked great for me.  I get anywhere from 4-6oz per 15 minute session, which gives me enough to feed her for a day.  Since I SAH I am not trying to build up a stash more than just a few feedings, if I was trying to build up a stash I would probably pump more often, but this works great for us.  Also, if she is especially hungry that day I have to supplement a bit with formula, but that is usually just once a day or so.

I have been for 3 months now. I pump four times a day and make enough to fill his bottles all day, plus freeze about 10oz a day. I have over 2000oz frozen.
