Stressing over planning a babymoon...Cancun/Riveria Maya

Anyone recommend a hotel???  This will be our 7th trip to the area so we know what we like.  Nice beach.  Decent food and no reservations for dinner.  Will be taking a 3 year old so some kids stuff but not a resort centered around kids.

Thanks

My husband and I went to Playa del Carmen in March and stayed at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba. It was fab. You get your own villa, and most have their own small pool on the roof of the villa, which I thought would be fantastic for a family with small kids.  It was nice and private for couples like us with no kids (yet!), but there were lots of families with kids there too. The food options were good, although not cheap and I'd recommend making reservations most nights just to be safe.

We booked via Apple and are headed to Riviera Maya/Akumal Beach on Dec 4th.

We are staying at the Grand Sirenis but the other one we looked at was more kid friendly was the Sandos Caracol ECO Resort & Spa.

Now we are in the excursion planning phase - which a dolphin swim will not be happening ;(

The Palace Resorts are nice and a good value. We got married at the Puerto Aventuras Spa Resort in the Riveria Maya, which we loved, while part of the resort is adults only, there is the Aventura Cove Palace, which is family friendly. They also have the Beach Palace and Moon Palace in Cancun, which I've heard really good things about. Lots of family activities, but not necessarily a Disney Resort.

I'm super jealous!

I also went to aventura spa palace which has aventura cove attached to it for kids and it was awesome.  Great food, great service, and really friendly staff.  It doesn't really have a beach though.  The pools were great.  There's also a fantastic spa.

One thing to remember is to be extra safe about the drinking water and anything that's washed in tap water wherever you go in that area.  At Aventura Spa Palace, there were signs everywhere saying the water was safe.  I took a tour of the kitchen and then sanitize the water with iodine before washing fruits and veggies in it.  I'm not sure if that's safe during pregnancy?

Gran Porto Real is great!  Lots of kids, but not kid focused.  They had really good food compared to other all inclusives.  It's also in the city of Playa del Carmen so you aren't "stuck" at the resort if you don't want to be.

We went on our babymoon in the riviera 4 weeks ago. We stayed at the Now Jade hotel. I dunno. I don't really think I'd recommend it. We had a pretty good time, but the food at the buffet was pretty lacking. The evening restaurants were awesome, and didn't need reservations. We literally did nothing all week. I read 5 books while laying by the pool/beach. I'm not sure how much there was there for kids though. Rooms were fantastic, pools were nice. Beach was huge and beautiful.

My husband and I stayed at Dreams in Cancun.  It was wonderful for families.. thats actually where this pregnancy adventure began!  They have a club for children everyday in case you and your hubby need a break.  I also booked through Cheapcaribbean.com and would not have done it any other way.  Good luck and enjoy!!
