Questions

Do you have sex more then once a day when ttc? I have heard that you should and have also heard that he should save up his sperm.  WDYT? Also, I got a positive OPK test yesterday, so ho many days should we be trying? Thanks!  Sorry if these are stupid questions.

Depends on the person.

My DH doesn't have any known sperm issues so it depends on how we are feeling to be honest. However, normally we DTD once a day.

My doc told me there's a lot of debate around this. It also depends on his sperm. My friend was trying to get pregnant by having sex every OTHER day (that's generally what my husband and I do) until she ovulates. Then during ovulation we have sex every day for about three or four days in a row. My friend, however, and her husband had sex like three times a day for about a week and they got pregnant THAT month! I think it really just depends.

Most importantly.... just have fun with it. Have sex when you want to. How long have you been TTC? If you're just starting, I would say don't worry about it, and just have sex when you feel like it. Don't make sex a "job" until you have to!

Personally I do not, but if you want to and have the stamina, then go for it. I don't think it will increase your chances.

This is our first month trying. We didn't have sex up until yesterday when I got a positive OPK. We were going to earlier in the week, but H got sick. I am thinking today through Sat. would be good to keep trying.  Sorry I am new to this and have questions Smile Thanks for your help!

I was thinking the same thing. My last 2 cycles I tried 2 a day right around my ovulation and it didnt work. So now I am trying once a day every day from when I get the smiley face on my ovulation stick for a week. I asked The 1st trimester board and none of them said 2x a day. They all said every day or every other day during their ovulation or they just did it once and got lucky!

When trying for DS, we did the deed the week before O... 2x a day.  I don't know if that made a difference since it only takes one sperm... but it made me feel like I did my best.  It all a waiting game, and we often feel powerless bc there is nothing we can do but wait, so adding an extra sexy time in there made me feel like I was doing SOMETHING to help.  LOL

Ouch! to the bolded above.

And OP, If you don't normally have sex fairly regularly I'd still try to get in a day or so as its getting close to your O date next month. (I know you said you would have if he wasn't sick) Waiting too long to have sex leading up to O is not good either.  I'm pretty sure you are supposed to have sex every 3 or 4 days in order to ensure a fresh supply, right ladies?

Ughh.  No more 2x/day for us.  Last month was our 5 year anniversary and for whatever reason we were going at it like we were in college again, we had sex 5 times in one weekend.  Don't get me wrong, it was a blast but then when my FW came later that week I had a UTI, right in time for O.

I agree Cara... I'm sure every doctor is different, but mine said that it is possible to have too much sex. He said it is good to wait 3 days prior to ovulation to increase sperm count.

Yes. One of my TTC books did mention not to conserve because the sperm is healthier when it's fresh.

With no known sperm issues, sex every day or every other day is fine. No need to abstain or "save up" for around ovulation.
