Second Opinion Appt and a new plan

We had our second opinion consult with a different RE at the same practice. Between being oversuppressed, responding poorly, having half of the retrieved eggs not be mature, and having two make it to freeze which probably won't survive a thaw, our first cycle was a bust! We were not happy with our RE for several reasons and yesterday made the switch to a new one.

We are doing PGD since my husband has a balanced translocation and wanted an RE with a more aggressive approach than our previous one. The new one is great and I felt so excited about moving forward after meeting with him!

We are going to be doing an antagonist protocol with Estrogen Priming. He mentioned doing 450ius of GonalF and Menopur, but I'm not sure of the dosage. Yesterday was CD1 and the bummer is that he said I could start next cycle but the PGD lab closes for the holidays so I will have to wait until January. Boo. Besides that, overall I am happy with everything and feel so much better being comfortable with and confident in my RE.

He does feel my AMH is borderline low at 1.17, but said my FSH and E2 were normal. Anyone have any input on that?

Cupcake, I am so happy to hear that you have a dr. you feel more comfortable with. I know waiting for Jan. sucks, but I am really excited that you will be back in the game and kicking the new year off with a bang.

I am not sure of your AMH as I don't remember your age? Mine was 1.2 which she said was pretty good for my age, yet I do not have many follicles. FX that this cycle goes smoother for you! <3

I Don't have any idea about the AMH, but I wanted to say good luck with the new doctor, I'm glad you are feeling excited about moving forward. It looks like we will be in January together!

Trying for a baby since 4/10
DX: Infertile 6/11 Me: LPD, all other blood work clear. May/ 2013 Egg maturity and quality issues.. DH: low sperm motility,low count.
Met with RE start clomid + TI + IUI 5/12= IUI cancelled due to positive Cystic Fibrosis carrier test. DH tested Neg. for Cystic Fibrosis,
6/12 Clomid + TI +IUI=BFN 8/10 IVF consult.
IVF #1 Started BCP 9/2 Lupron 10/11 stims 10/27 ER 11/6!! 5 eggs retreived only 1 mature. FERT report shows none made it.Cancelled cycle.
IVF #2 BCP 11/18 Lupron 12/14
Stims start 12/29 ER 1/8 ET 1/11 put in 1 grade B and 1 grade C. Beta: 1/20=BFN
Second opinion at new clinic TBD
decided to stick with old clinic with new plan.
5/3 started metformin for IVF # 3 set to start in July!!!

That all sounds like a good plan! I'm happy that you're happy with it.

Sorry about your having to wait til Jan, but closing clinics in Dec is pretty common - so you're not alone.

Long story: trying on our own + testing testing testing with 6 rounds of Clomid, more testing, injectables + TI, laparoscopy - one tube blocked, 2 IUIs with Follistim...BFNs.
RPL testing all normal, Karyotyping normal

Moving on to IVF.

IVF #1 April 2012 = BFN, IVF #2 June 2012 = BFP. U/S 7/23 = saw heartbeat but measuring behind. Follow up U/S on 7/30 - no heartbeat. D&C 8/2. Trisomy 12. IVF #3 Oct 2012 = Chemical Pregnancy

Phone consult with CCRM on 12/12/12 - ODWU 1/4/13 - both tubes clear(!) - AFC 24, AMH 3.2, FSH 9.6, LH 5.4, E2 25. DH has high frag rate but improved!
IVF #4 March 2013 CCRM. EP protocol w/ Menopur, Gonal-F & Dexamethasone. ER 3/29 & IMSI, PICSI. 43R 13M 10F 6blasts bio'd. CCS testing reveals 3 normals!!!
FET 5/31/13 of 1 4AA blast - thawed and expanded. 4dp5dt BFP.
Beta 9dp5dt = 181, 11dp5dt = 427

Glad you are comfortable with the new plan and RE moving forward, that really makes a difference. No input to add, but may later this month when I finally have my followup with RE---my cycle was very similar to yours so either there was an issue with oversuppression, low responder and only 1 mature egg after 12 days of stims---sigh, so we definitely need to take a closer look at my FSH/E2/AMH. I'd be interested to see how the new protocol works for you!
