Playtex Disposable Liners

Do they have to be disposable? They seem pretty sturdy, and my husband and I think that if we wash them, we could get at least a couple uses out of them to save money. Anyone know why they are supposedly "disposable" - other than the company wants to make more money? If there's a legit reason to not re-use, then we won't. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas...

I agree they are pretty sturdy, but my parnoid self wouln't reuse due to fear that the plastic might start to break down and leach into the milk after being warmed up twice.

Ew. I can't imagine reusing them.

I reused once with the 4oz liners when LO was transitioning from 4 oz to 5oz at a feeding (we hadn't bought 8oz bottles yet), so I mixed up another ounce with the same liner I'd just used. I've never heated his bottles, so I can't speak to how they'd react if you reheated with the same liner. However, I found that after you've used the liner it tends to collapse a bit at the top, which would lead to leaks if you reused. Like I said, I only did it once to just make one more ounce and so as not to waste a liner. IMO, though, it's not really worth reusing a liner. All sanitary issues relating to reusing liners aside, one of the benefits of liners is not having to constantly clean bottles; if you're having to clean the liners, what's the point?

Not sure about if they could be reusable, but the Target Up and Up brand of liners is about half the price of the Playtex ones :)

The reason I bought the disposable liners is BECAUSE they are disposable. I.e. less cleanup time. If you want to get "more uses" out of them, buy real/glass bottles. :)

The point it to not have to wash them, and they come sterilized. We push some of the air out to prevent gas and the bag collapses so it is reusable. Like pp said the target brand are half the price but work just as good.

Unless you want to reuse them number of times, it doesn't help with cost much. You won't be able to save much. They are convenient because they are reusable.

If you want to save money, get a couple of bottles, which you wash and reuse. Disposable liners are meant to be used once.

I am also pretty sure that they would start leaking pretty badly. Those things are sturdy, but they collapse easily on top.
