DS has that exact one and loves it. I don't find it any more annoying than any other toy that plays music. I think it has a couple of volume settings on it if the music annoys you. He's had it for almost a year and uses it daily and I think I've only put new batteries in it once. It does mean you're chasing balls around the floor but I wouldn't call it messy.
I did have to pull DS out of it yesterday when he decided his butt belonged in it instead of the balls. And he went through a phase where he would take all the balls out and try to bite the bump in the middle while it was popping around. He's put every item he can pick up into it at one point or another. That thing is sturdy because it's still going strong.
