We got a Day Care!!!!

I don't know if any of you have went through this, but finding a decent day care in Southern California is rough! There are waiting lists, mandatory orientations, upfront- nonrefundable fees and none of this means you are in! Holy crap!

We finally decided to go with part-time nannies for now and they have been great, but can get rather expensive...the base rate is $10-$15 an hour and that's the base rate. So we got back on the horse and tried a few day cares. After many 1-2 year wait lists, crazy fees to get on the wait list and a few really dirty day care visits, we finally found our home for our LO.

He won't start until mid December but it's a relief that he is registered and has a spot. It's still a little expensive, but we know he will be in good hands in a clean and organization place and my wife and I can go back to work and hustle to pay that bill!

Fellas, this is just the beginning....apparently these kids also need to go to college too!

Congratulations!

Lurking mom here, but we're just starting to research now (on a tip from an equally frustrated friend) and would love to know where you found heaven! We're also in SoCal and the fun has just begun...

Congrats!  Finding a place where you feel safe and at ease to leave your child in can definitely be a challenge.  Finding a place here was kind of a challenge, but apparently nothing in comparison to what its like in So Cal.  Hope it turns out to be a great place for your son!

Congrats, we are lucky my MIL lost her job about the time our LO was born so we now pay her a decent amount to watch our child.

We live in Burbank, CA so our daycare is actually apart of the Burbank Unified School System. My wife is a teacher so this made her feel at ease. Each room has a certified instructor, everyone has to be CPR/AED certified and everyone has at least 16 hours of child development. AND it's a school so it's secure. If you are close by let me know. We were only able to find 3 daycares in Burbank that accept infants, most start at 18 months.
