Best way to introduce bottle to a BF baby?

LO is 9mths. She's never taken a bottle. I tried half heartedly when she was around 10 weeks, but she wasn't interested and we didn't have a need.

Now I have a surgery lined up in 3 weeks time. I won't be able to nurse Lo for her mid-morning or her mid-afternoon feed.

My Mum and Dh will be looking after her.

I tried her on a bottle last night. She was vaguely interested but hardly drank anything. I tried her again tonight. Then I tried her sippy cup (which we've recently introduced at mealtimes and she's a little familiar with) but she was not interested. Then I tried just an open cup, and she had a few good mouthfuls (as best as she could manage) before she got tetchy.

So I've had best luck with just a normal cup. Should I persevere with that and just not worry about the bottle? Also we've been doing this in the evening before bed, the idea being that Dh could do it. But I'm wondering if she's tired which is part of why she's tetchy and would do better with me doing it in the middle of the day when she's fresher.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I would forget the bottle. They're supposed to be off it by a year anyway, and keep trying either the sippy or the open cup.

Are you the one giving her the cups? Is it possible for you to leave the room and let your H try?

DS would not take bottles of milk if I was in the room. If he was getting milk, he wanted it straight "from the tap." Even when I introduced solids, he wouldn't take them from me, only from S.O. To him, I was for milk only.

I would keep trying with the cup. Like PP said, they are supposed to be off bottles by a year. If she is doing well with a regular cup, avent has a new one that works like a regular cup, but is fairly close to leak proof. The only time we have problems with leaks is when LO holds it open and turns it upside-down.

Skip the bottle, keep trying with the cup.  My LO wouldn't take a bottle either and we managed to get her on a simple sippy before I went back to work. A straw sippy might work for a BF baby too, but it sounds like the open cup is working best.
