Lower back pain, kept you up all night?

So I am 35 weeks today according to my last period, but baby girl is measuring 1 week ahead.

Last night was by far the worst sleep I have ever gotten or lack thereof! I went to bed at 11pm and could not fall asleep. My lower back was just killing me. Not like a normal backache either-but more of a contraction like pain-except that never went away. It was constant. At about 3:30 I got up and took 2 extra strength tylenol, and a warmer bath-nothing helped. And at 4:30 I was considering going to the ER because of the pain. I ended up just laying in bed because I did not want to go outside in 10 degree weather to start the truck-and fell asleep sometime shortly after 5.

I woke up today and no more contraction/back pain. Has anyone else had this? If so, is there anything that helped you with the pain? Im going to bring it up to my doctor today, I have an ultrasound to check weight and position.

I had this same thing last Sunday.  It started about 10 a.m. and lasted till about 8 in the evening.  It was awful, and I couldn't get any relief.  I have to other children and have experienced back labor both times.  It reminded me of that.  But like you, it wasn't come and go contraction type pain, it was constant.  I asked my OB and he said its pretty normal.  Take Tylenol and use a heating pad on the area as needed.

I actually asked my mom if you can have contractions in your back because I have had the same thing the last few nights. It is awful and super painful. My mom said it happened to her all the time in the 3rd tri. But, mine along with hers went away after a minute or so. I have had nights were I am up all the whole night with pain and discomfort - having to toss and turn to relive the pressure on my back and hips but never anything that some time and tylenol didnt help. Hope you feel better.

If it did NOT feel rhythmic then I have had similar pain. I have severe issues with my sacroillac joints (back of the pelvis). It is ok during the day but laying on my side at night makes it flair up. Just thought I would throw that out there to look into but obviously ask your doctor.

OMG- I could have wrote this post myself.  Only I did go to the women's hospital.  1/2 hour after I arrived, it mysteriously went away.  I never had this with my first, so I thought maybe it was a kidney stone- nope.  The pain was about a 7-8 on a scale of 10, so pretty far up there.

I was wondering if they are "false labor" contractions. I have an ultrasound in a couple of hours, so Im going to ask my doctor about it as well.

And I agree the pain was pretty bad I would say about a 7 as well. With our first daughter I had an epidural and was planning on doing a natural delivery this time. But after last night, it just makes me feel like such a wimp! Like there is no way I could handle ALL of labor if I was that uncomfortable.
