The key to a good registry is only have on it things you'd want. The amount, beyond that, is kinda up to you. Don't put things on it you don't want to receive, but believe me, speaking from experience, there are so many little things you probably wouldn't think to register for, but if you got, you'd use, including things you might not use until LO is a toddler. I got some jammies for DD that she's just now, at 2, big enough to wear, but it's great that I didn't have to buy them now. Safety items/babyproofing, we didn't register for, but it'd have been great to have because the cost of the little latches and covers and guards adds up. So if you're being pressed to add more, go for it, and yeah, some people will buy other stuff anyway, but the more help you can give, the better, because a lot of people really want to get you what you want, and a lot of people will also do the "bundled gift" where a bag holds a ton of small stuff--that stuff you were thinking to leave off. Good luck!
