how to make bundle me safe?

Is there a way to make the JJ Cole bundle me safe? We got one second hand

but I don't want to use it unless its 100% safe.

It's not safe.  My understanding is that you can use it in the carseat when baby is in stroller but not actually in the car.  Also, the JJ Cole shower Cap style that goes around the car seat is safe because it doesn't get between baby and seat.

You can cut the back out so there's nothing between the baby and the back of the carseat. There's a website that shows you exactly how to do it. I'm using an ipad so I can't make a direct link but: http://thecarseatlady.blogspot.com/2011/01/bundle-me-everyone-uses-it-in-car-seat.html
