I can't believe we bought a stroller :S

We went to a baby show today and ended up ordering a stroller. We weren't sure if we needed a stroller at all, but with my crazy runner of a toddler I was sure I'd need some solution. My son is tall and doesn't fit in most doubles, or most singles and he's only 2.5 years old! He'll be nearly 3 by the time baby #2 comes, so we weren't sure if he would be controllable enough to not need something. Well, we actually found a workable solution and a stroller he actually fits in! It's a freaking miracle!

Anyway, I just wanted to share in case other moms of 2 are in a similar predicament. I really like the stroller and am impressed by how well my son fits in it. He's 38 inches tall already, so if he can fit ... !

Wow, that's nice!  Glad you found something that will work for you!  Is that a removable "rumble" seat that you could take off later when you no longer need it?  The basket looks pretty big too!

It looks really nice but I'm confused as to where the infant goes- in the main seat or in the small seat in front?  DS is super tall as well (37" at his 2 year appt- no idea where he's at now).  He's also very heavy so I'm starting to wonder if we should do a double stroller as well.  At first I was picturing myself having DS in the single stroller and wearing the new baby, but it might be nice to have options.

The infant goes in the man seat. The back fully reclines, so it's safe for newborns. There are some great videos on the site that show all the features. The toddler seat holds up to 45 lbs. DS is 38 inches and 33 lbs and fit great in both the stroller itself (very high canopy) and the toddler seat (though getting him out is a bit tricky, but you can unsnap the crotch to get him out).  Once the infant is 6 months and sitting on his/her own, they can go up front in the toddler seat and believe it or not, there's enough room for my leggy son to sit in the stroller while the toddler seat is on.

Yep. The toddler seat is an add on that we bought and the stroller can be used easily as a single.  The basket is surprisingly big and has pockets on either side, plus a small bag on the back of the stroller. We looked for a long time for a double that DS would fit in, but since he's so tall, his head hits the canopy of every single stroller we tried, even the singles! Tongue Tied

I think those are cool, but for me not very practical. Your older son is just kind of stuck sitting in that little seat - no shade, no recline, no foot rest. It's kind of like being in a shopping cart. I guess it depends on what you are using it for. We use it for traveling and lots of day trips - it't critical to have an easy fold w/ no extra parts and I love that my older daughter can climb in and out by herself.

Did you look at the Baby Jogger City Mini Doubles? Your son would fit in that fine, my older daughter is bigger than he is and still fits.

Can I make a suggestion?  Make sure you try out both a tandem and a side by side with your DS in the front seat of the tandem.  I bought a BJ CS when I was pregnant w/ DS2, and I totally regret it.  My heavy 3 year old wants to sit in the front all the time so he can climb in and out and it makes it extremely hard to push.  If I could go back in time I would get a side by side.  A Bumbleride Indie double is my dream : ).  But, the City Mini Double is nice, too.

We looked at Baby Jogger, both the double and the City Select. His head touches the canopy in both. Before we found this one we were going to go with the City Select. With this one there is a shade I can buy and his feet touch the bottom of the stroller, but yeah, no recline. He actually seemed to like it a lot. I can always bring a carrier with me and put DS in the stroller and LO #2 in the carrier if need be. We'll be going to the zoo and parks and nature hikes etc, so I was wanting something to contain him in.

Huh. He must have a crazy long torso then, b/c like I said, my DD is taller and still has room to grow. the City Select is too small for her but the City Mini is not. I'm just surprised, that's all.

Did you look at the Maclaren Twin Techno? That was our runner up. The canopy is extendable on that I think.

I love the stroller!! I looked at double strollers but DD will be a few months shy of 4 when DS gets here, and she hasn't ridden in a stroller since she was 2.5 so I'm thinking it would be a huge waste of money for me. I'm just scared DS will get here and DD will all of the sudden want to ride in a stroller, or need to be carried. This weekend we painted the nursery and she all of the sudden became helpless, kept getting her arm stuck in the backpack straps, couldn't get her dolls clothes on, anything to pull us out of that room to her. I guess that was the big mistake in doing something for DS that she couldn't help with while she was home...
