Newborn clothing

Realistically how long was your LO in newborn clothing? I got some outfits at my shower that I am contemplating returning for 03 month size vs NB.

My boy was born 5 weeks early at 5 lbs 14 oz...he was in nb clothes for 4 weeks and now is 9 pounds. 0-3 pants are HUGE on him, so he is STILL in NB pants and 0-3 tops and sweatshirts. If he was at term he would of been in nb clothes less than a week. Most of his baby pics are naked or in a diaper anyway so most of my cuter stuff is 0-3. I didnt even use all our nb stuff

On the other hand, my sis just had a little guy we called the Hulk he was at the top end of the NB size range at birth, and moved quickly into the 3 mo clothes and could wear some of those from the beginning.

LO was born at 37 weeks at 6 lbs 6 oz and was in NB clothes for less than 3 weeks. We didn't have hardly any NB clothes but got some from a friend...some outfts she only wore once. She is FF so gained weight quickly.

DD was 7lbs 10oz at birth and is 5 weeks now and still mostly in NB sizes and is on NB diapers.

My son was also 7lbs 10oz at birth...he is over three weeks now and is still in newborn clothes. Some of the newborn stuff is even big on him....

My LO is just starting to outgrown NB and she is 7.5 weeks, some still fit her.  She has fit into 0-3 for a few weeks as well though, both 0-3 and NB fit her for a while.  She weighs about 10.5 pounds now and I would say at about 9.5 pounds is when NB things stopped fitting her.  She is long and lean though, and most of her NB stuff is onsies, NB pants have not fit her for a while in the length.

Baby girl was born right on time.  She's outgrown some newborn stuff (at around 4 weeks) and can still wear some.  Some 0-3 month stuff is still too big, but she's mostly wearing 0-3 at 6 weeks old now with some larger NB stuff thrown in.

I would hold onto until after LO is born--everyone told me I wouldn't use NB stuff, I got none at the showers, and I ended up having to buy some so she would have clothes the first month :)

My LO, born 7lbs 1oz, will be 6 weeks this Tuesday and is just now starting to outgrow her newborn onesies. The last few days she's been going through a growth spurt and getting bigger almost overnight. Her doctor visit last Monday she was already over 10lbs.

Our LO is nearly 2 months and we're just starting to get rid of nb clothes, mostly sleepers because of length. 0 to 3 pants are still big on her. She was born 7 lbs 3 oz and is now about 10 lbs.

My LO was 8 lb 5 oz at birth and wore nb for about three weeks.
BFP #1: 2/14/11. EDD: 10/20/11. Missed m/c discovered in April at 12 weeks, d&c. BFP #2: 12/27/11. EDD: 9/9/2012.

DD was 21.5 in and 9lbs and her feet push at some of her newborn sleepers. She can't even bend her legs in the one, but she is skinny enough for them. She wears lots of 03 month stuff now. She is 11 days. I'd rather things be a touch big and get some use out of them.

There's no way to predict.DS can still fit in some NB clothes.  He's 11 lbs and 11 weeks.  I suggest buying them at a thrift/consignment store.

DS was 6lb 10oz at birth and fit into NB until about a week ago (3 months).  he is still under 10lbs but very long- there are still some sleepers and onesies (carters) that fit.  3months is still a little big but at least i know they will fit for a while.

About a 4-6 weeks. I didn't really have any newborn clothing because I just assumed my kid would be 7-8 lbs at birth (no idea why I assumed that really) and I didn't want to be stuck with newborn clothes he never wore. He ended up being 6.5 lbs and I had to go pick up a few onesies and sleepers for him because the 0-3 month clothes were falling off of him.

He wore newborn clothing for 6 weeks and a handful still fit and 7 weeks. Now, at 8 weeks, almost all of it is put away. (He was 8 lbs 5 oz at birth and is 10 lbs 10 oz now.)

My baby was born at 37 weeks too, and he dropped down to 6lbs after that first week.  He was in NB clothes for 6 weeks or so.  I had to go out and buy some onsies because I was only given 0-3 and he floated in those.  I just did a lot of laundry because I didn't have a lot in that size.  He's wearing 0-3 now, but I don't think he'll be in them as long as he's 10 weeks old, 12 lbs and getting to the edge of any 0-3 sizes with footies.

I just washed up his 3 month sized clothes yesterday as I am expecting in the next week or so he'll be in them.  He's EBF.

I only bought one NB size set for the hospital, in both cases. They wore it for about a month.

DS2 will be 6 weeks on Wed and he's still in NB although they are starting to get small in the length area. He was 6 lbs 14 oz when he was born and went home at 6 lbs 10 oz. At his 2 week check-up he was only at 6 lbs 14.5 oz but he seems to have gained a good amount of weight because he's looking more chubby :) It all depends on the brand...he does have one NB footed pj that we already had to retire because it was small in length to the point he couldn't straighten his leg. I'll probably start putting him in 0-3 at around 8 weeks and I know they will still be big but I'm thinking the NB stuff will mostly be too short.

DD was 9 lbs 6 oz and 20.5" at 37 weeks...we didn't even get to wear the NB stuff once! Luckily, it was mostly hand-me-downs. The rest I was able to exchange. 

DS was 9 lbs 1oz and 20.5" at 40 weeks, but he was able to wear NB for a few weeks. He was also a summer baby, so most of it didn't have feet and sleeves to be too short.

DD was born @ 39 weeks weighing 6 lbs 2 oz, way smaller than I ever thought. My mom bought us some NB stuff and a friend let us borrow some things. We had only bought size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothing, so we needed new diapers, too!

She's just over 3 weeks now and we're just starting to put her in 0-3 month stuff now, and it's still pretty big on her, but NB stuff is getting a bit tighter on her, especially in the length. Her diapers are fitting her now, whereas before she was swimming in them! BTW she's FF so that may make a difference, too. Honestly, it seems so hard to know for sure what sizes you'll need until LO is here.

My son was born 40 weeks and weighed 7 lb, 2 oz and was 20 inches long. He still wears his NB stuff, and he will be 2 months old 11/20. If it gives you any indicator of his size now, he got a shot 11/1 and he weighed 10 lb, 12 oz, so I am sure he weighs 11 lbs now b/c he eats all the time. Lol

I would recommend keeping the clothes with the tags. I expected to have a big baby and be later, just like my mom was with her babies. Instead, I had DD at 39 weeks exactly at 7lbs and 3oz. Nearly all the clothes I had for her were huge, so I had to go out to the store in my sore postpartum self with my newborn to get some newborn size clothes and diapers for her. I am glad I had the few things I did to help stall until she was a little bigger. She is now mostly out of newborn sizes length wise, but width wise many newborn things can still fit her (like dresses, sweaters, coats).

My kids NEVER wore NB...but I have big babies. :-) DD was 9lb 2 oz and 22 1/2 inches long at birth. She has worn 0-3 clothes, and size 1 diapers since birth. Now 5 weeks we are transitioning to 3-6 clothes, mostly due to length though.

Ds was 5 weeks early at 4 pds 6 oz. We used Preemie stuff for like a week, NB for about a month and he at three months has grown out of most 3 month clothing. Up until my seventh month I had only bought 3 month clothing because I come from a family of big people I assumed I would make a big baby... Right before I had the C Section I bought a few NB outfits on my last trip to the Carter's store. I am thankful that I did.

MY son was born 5lbs 10oz and he is still in newborn at 5 weeks. We will be switching to 0-3months in the next week or two as he is starting to fill in his newborn alot.

My daughter was born at 39 wks and weighed 6lbs 3oz. and was 19in long. By the time we left the hospital she had went down to 5lbs. 8oz. She had a good amount of NB clothes but hubby and I had to go out and buy her some preemie sleepers and diapers. Now at just over 3 wks she weighs abt 6lbs 14oz and is still using NB clothes. 3 mth clothes still fit her big......may be due to the fact that she is very lean.
