Question for all you ladies who were on BC before TTC

Hello ladies! My name is Skylar. DH and I aren't trying just yet, but I plan to go off BC the last week of december. I was wanting to see if you guys could give me an idea of how long it took you to get pregnant after BC, or if you were charting, how long it took you to start ovulating again.

I know that everyone is different, but I'm curious to see how long it took you guys. Thanks! :)

Welcome! Ive seen you around the baby names board.

 With DD, I was off bc for 5 weeks before getting pregnant- no charting.

This time- i have been off bc since May and just found out Thursday that i am pregnant with #2. Also no charting and only really trying since September.

I got pregnant my first month off birth control this time, and with DS my 5th month after birth control, I did a low dose pill.

It took about 8 months after going off BC. I had been on BC for about 6 years. 

But you're right, it is different for every person. GL!

3 years. Charted the whole time. Ovulated every cycle from the time I went off BCPs.

Went off the pill in July, started trying in August, got pregnant in October. I started charting 4 days before getting a BFP HPT.

DD; off the pill four months before getting knocked up. No charting.

This one; off the mini pill in May, starting charting in June and was ovulating then. Got pregnant in September.

Went off in March, got pregnant in April on our second cycle with DS. Went off in July this time and got pregnant in Sept on our third cycle.

We were preventing the first three months I was off the pill. I was charting during that time to get the hang of it. I got pregnant the first cycle we tried, had a chemical pregnancy, then tried and got pregnant again the next cycle. Good luck!

I got off the pill in April just in case it took a while for my cycles to regulate. I started charting right away, even though we weren't ready to TTC yet. I ovulated right away on the first cycle. This month was our first time trying, and we were surprised to find out just a few days ago that we're expecting! We just didn't think that it would happen so quickly. :)

 TTC about a year charting and everything then gave up, got on BCP  decided I didn't like the side effects and stopped after 2 months Got off the pill in May conceived 2 weeks later no charting not really trying anymore either. I guess you never really know how things will work out.

Stopped taking the pill on 7/20, pregnant around 8/30.  I am 31 and was fully expecting it take 6 months- a year.  FYI my OB told me not to wait three months as women have been told in the past.  She says oftentimes women can be very fertile in the few months right after they stop taking the pill and there really are no negative side effects to getting pregnant right away.  While I'm sure that's not true for everyone it certainly worked out for us!

With my last pregnancy, I had been off the pill for a couple of weeks and got pregnant my first month/cycle of trying. No charting, just having sex often. I was on the micro pill (progestin-only) for a couple years before trying.

Not long at all. I was on Ocella I believe (had just changed to a generic a month or so before stopping BC).  I charted, but started temping only my last month or so. I did use OPKs around what I thought was fertile week (tested once or twice in the evening, that's when I saw my surge). I also tracked CM. Can't remember if it was 3 or 4 months, but it wasnt very long and I feel fortunate.

I was off the pill for 4 cycle...one we were TTA. I charted during all of them, and began ovulating right away. BFP came on cycle 4 without BC (third of actually trying).

It took me 14 months after going off BCPs to get pregnant.  During that time I did discover that I have atypical PCOS, so I don't ovulate regularly.  However, nothing previous to me going on BCPs indicated this, so it was a giant surprise.

ETA: I wouldn't have know what was going on without charting.  I highly recommend charting so you can determine fairly quickly if anything wonky is going on.

Went off BC the end of August, ovulated exactly 14 days into my cycle and had a positive pregnancy test 10 days past ovulation. Good luck!

Hi there!

BCP- Got pregnant as soon as I stopped taking it.

IUD- 13 cycles, charted until 8 months then off and on. It took 1 cycle before I started O'ing again.

It took my body a long time to regulate- almost a year.  Make sure you supplement your body.  Birth control pills really deplete your body of many minerals, etc.  esp zinc.  I would start taking a prenatal now, if you aren't already.  Good luck!

I am a healthy, 22 year old and was on NuvaRing every month since January of 2007. I took it out in August, and 2 weeks later I was pregnant (first pregnancy). I am now almost 13 weeks. I also wanted to say, I started prenatals prior to TTC, to help get my body ready.

I didn't really chart- but i used one of those ovulation tests, first time I used it, it said I would be ovulating in the next day or two; and sure enough that morning I felt pain in my side (I can feel when i'm ovulating).

I got pregnant the first month/ cycle after going off BCP.  I had started charting that month and O'd about 3 weeks after my last "AF."

12 months before we went to a fertility clinic-turns out that the BC was masking the symptoms of PCOS.  My periods were wildly irregular without the BC.  6 months after seeking help until my first BFP.

We conceived first baby 2 weeks after stopping the pill.  This go around...took us 9 months to conceive.  Only charted my cycles.
