Medical Alert Bracelets for Newborns?

For all the parents of children with allergies or medical conditions, I have a very important question.

This is our first child, and my husband has a rare, genetically carried allergy to certain anesthesia. His parents, siblings, and children all may have this same potentially deadly allergy, and so they all must wear medical alert medals. There are no allergies like this in my family, and suddenly, at 36 weeks, I realize I need to protect my newborn in the event of a medical emergency and we aren't there to explain his allergy to medical staff.

I'm searching for medical alert bracelets for infants and toddlers, and if you have any suggestions for websites, please share! But I have a few questions:

How many bracelets do I need? Where should I put them?

-one for the baby's ankle?

-one for the diaper bag strap?

-one to go on his car seat?

Do I leave it on all the time just to make sure he's used to the feel of it? Or does he only need to wear it when we leave the house?

I'm not so worried about when my son is in school. Wearing a cool bracelet or necklace is appealing to kids, but I don't know how to intigrate this necessary piece of safety equipment into his life when he is very young.

Also, if you have a positive experience you'd like to share about medical alert bracelets and children and infants, I'd really appreciate that. I knew this condition would be part of my family when we decided to have children, and aside from any surgeries this really isn't something that can forseeably impact my children's lives too heavily, but facing it is still... scary? A little sad? But only for now, I hope. I want to get to the point of thinking of this bracelet only as a protection for my son, and not as a reminder of something to fear.

I would just get one and put it on his ankle. There's no need for one on your diaper bag or the carseat. I'd keep it on him all the time. That's the point if them.

I'd put it on his ankle so that it doesn't make it into his mouth often. Plus, at the hospital they put the baby bracelet on his ankle, so I think that would probably be a good spot.

Our hospital gave out stickers that stick onto a carseat with name, address, birthdate, allergies/medical info, and contact info. I guess it is so that, in the case of an emergency, they have more info if you can't provide it. That might be an option. Ours is a bright orange sticker- certainly visible. (We haven't put it on yet, so I'm not sure where it would go.) That way if something happened to his ankle in an accident, it would be on his carseat as well. I don't think people would check a carseat for a bracelet, you know?

And honestly, you'll probably forget the diaper bag or switch bags, so I don't think that would be a good place for one either.

If it were me, I'd leave it on all the time so that 1) he's used to it and 2) it wasn't forgotten. My brain is fuzzy all the time now, and I'm sure I'd leave without it despite my best attempts.

That was really a great idea for our newborns. I think that the ankle thing will best suit them. It's commonly said that medical alarm systems like bracelet speaks for you when you are unable to speak for yourself.
