If you had sciatic pain in your 3rd tri....

How did you treat it?

Did it affect your labor?

I have it pretty bad. Didn't at all with LO 1. I've been just taking it easy when I can and using a heating pad.

Someone told me I should go to a chiro because otherwise it's going to make labor unbearable. I'll mention this to my OB but wanted to see if anyone else had experience with this in the meantime. Thanks!!

I had horrible sciatic pain and I saw a chiro which helped. I pushed for 2 hours and ultimately ended up with a C Section but I havent had any sciatic problems since he was born or problems while pushing.

I had it pretty bad. I went to the Chiro once a week througout my pregnancy and it helped a lot. I also would take a warm bath to help with it. My DH would massage it as well and that would help.

Honestly, I'm not sure how much it effected my labor since I was induced and that was plenty painful on its own.

I had it mildly before pregnancy and just dealt with it; getting an occasional massage when it got bad.

Early pregnancy it was bad and one massage got rid of most of it.

End of pregnancy it was horrible and my doctor recommended a chiropractor to me. I ended up delivering prior to going in. I had an epidural and didn't notice any sciatic pain. Just under 2 weeks after delivery I no longer notice the sciatica.

After my tears heal I have thought about going to the chiropractor to realign things post pregnancy/delivery.

With DS and this pg, I've had bad sciatica. It didn't affect my labor with DS, but I also wasn't on my back. I think that staying off your back while in labor/while pushing will help.

And I do agree with PP's that a chiropractor is super helpful.

I had it bad but didn't treat it [I can't go to a chiropractor, I have scoliosis]. I had a vaginal delivery with no epi, it didn't affect it, but I still have it pretty bad unfortunately.

I prayed for this child, and the lord has granted me what I asked of him. 1 Samuel 1:27

I saw the chiro as needed, mostly once every 3 weeks for both my pregnancies. It helped me a lot.

I saw the chiro 2x a week from about 20w until the end of my pregnancy. It helped a little, but my labor was pretty horrible. I had horrible back labor. I literally felt nothing in my belly, no cramping, nothing, but my back and hips felt like they were breaking for nearly 30 hours. I got an epi after about 15 hours, starting pushing 4 hours later for roughly 3 hours, and delivered her.

That being said, I have no idea if it had anything to do with sciatica.

I saw a chiro as well, but I really think it was due to DS's position because after he dropped around 39 weeks, the pain went away.  I have had a couple twinges of the same pain this past week, but nothing like during my pregnancy

I didn't do anything to treat it and I had it pretty bad. (not sure why I didn't do anything) I just used heating pads and stretches that my doctor gave me.

Thinking back, it may have affected my labour- I had really bad lower back pain which could be attributed to that or not.

I haven't had it since I gave birth though.
