Any reason not to use medium flow nipple?

My LO is 10 weeks.  Yesterday, I purchased two medium flow nipples yesterday and tried them on my LO as I've been having alot of trouble with him only taking 1-2 ounces at a time lately even though he can (and used to and occassionally still does) eat more akin to 4 ounces at a time.  In fact, it has gotten to the point that it is not only a pain in the behind (because he eats more often), but I've also noticed him not gaining as much weight.  Plus, he take forever to finnish a bottle when he does finnish it. On the first try, he ate 5 ounces and on the next try (just a couple of hours later) with the faster flow nipple he ate about 3.5!

So...my question is this - Is there any reason not to switch him to the faster flow nipple?  Is there any danger in switching too soon? It does say 3 months on the nipple. It seemed like the feeding was a little messier (had a few more dribbles out the mouth), but he didn't choke on the milk or anything.

As long as he's not choking, it's fine! You might need to burp him more often but it should be fine!

Our LO is only seven weeks old and already using the medium flow nipples. Her pediatrician recommended it, because she was such a noisy eater. You could tell she was trying very hard to get milk out and is wasn't happening as quickly as she wanted it to. I think it's fine to switch, since they gave us the green light at six weeks.

I had this exact problem, once I switched he started eating 3 oz at a time, we were at 1! He was a little dribbly with it for about a week, and now he takes 4 oz every three hours.

Nope no problem. I switched DD over to the 3+ nipples when she was about 3 weeks old. She would suck so hard on the slow flow ones that they would collapse and she wouldn't get anything out of them.
