Ectopic fears -- any advice/reassurance?

If I thought I was a hypochondriac before, but it's x1000 now. I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow.

I've had mild pain/cramping since Saturday on my lower left side. Not in one exact spot, but the general area. It feels a lot like one of those persistent gas bubbles/pains, but I can't be sure so I'm Googling and freaking myself out.  It's not all the time, kinda comes and goes. Really feels GI-related but can't help but fear the worst.

I got BFPs from 11 dpo to 16 dpo, then stopped testing on everyone's advice. :) By my LMP I'm 4 weeks 6 days today, 5 weeks tomorrow. Calling dr's office tomorrow afternoon for my bloodwork results and to discuss the lower left side issue (the doc on call today said to go to the ER if any bleeding or severe pain, but otherwise to discuss further w/my doc tmrw afternoon).

I know you all can't tell me what's going on but I'm really losing my mind here and looking for a little reassurance if possible. TIA.

I had the same problem at 5 weeks and went in for a transvaginal ultrasound. In my case it was cramping coming from an ovarian cyst that had ruptured (the fluid in my abdominal cavity was irritating my organs and causing the cramping, it eventually self-resolved as my body reabsorbed the fluid)...but what they also said, that I think you will find reassuring, is that it was too early for an ectopic pregnancy to rupture the fallopian tube (that kind of pain is excruciating and would typically present between 7 and 9 weeks). Getting checked out will be wise, but at this point - unless your symptoms change (e.g. bleeding, severe pain) I would really try to relax. It could be many things besides an ectopic pregnancy. Try to focus on positive things until you can talk to your doctor. I know I was really freaked out too - my heart goes out to you - but worrying will not help.

Good luck!

Thank you, that's really helpful to hear. I can't believe how much I'm freaking myself out about this ... appreciate you taking the time to chime in.

I felt the same when i was 5-6 weeks. My pain was also from an ovarian cyst that felt as if it ruptured; they never said if it did. However, the pain was a horrible, come and go, stabbing feeling but there was no blood which is good. I am now 10 weeks and the pain went away. Just try to relax and keep in contact with your doc, thats the best thing to do.  :)

Hope things get better!

I've had this pain with all three pregnancies. It was a cyst every time. Talk to the doctor about it and stay off of Google! lol Google will freak you out and 98% of the time, you'll find "worst case scenario" when you google. Also, drink a ton of water. Dehydration does weird this to your body when you're pregnant.

It's only natural to feel freaked out - especially if you have had issues before. Your doing everything that can be done, in my opinion, and chances are it's going to be a false alarm. Ectopics are fairly rare. In some cases due to scar tissue (like mine) they can sneak up on you causing no pain at all. However, constant bleeding like a light period is a major warning sign. The biggest mistake I made was waiting too long to get freaked out enough to go into the ER, where I lost my right tube because the amount of time that had passed. That's the main thing - if you have the symptoms don't wait too long. If I had gone in earlier chances are they would've been able to save my tube and the crisis would have been averted. Your not taking any chances, and that's the best thing you can do, especially for your peace of mind if nothing else. Good luck, and keep us updated. *hugs*

I hate to tell you this, but I've had 3 ectopic pregnancies and never had any cramping. Don't think about it too much. They will be able to tell with an ultrasound fairly soon whether your baby is in the right place or not. Good luck!
