Names that were ruined

What was a name you absolutely loved until someone/something ruined it for you?

I used to love the name Christian, after reading 50 shades I really dislike the name.

Growing up I LOVE Isabelle. It's my grandmother's name and I always thought it would be an option for a daughter. Then Twilight happened.

There were so many that were ruined for me.

Ryan- a friend of DH's

Jason and Jesse- Co-Workers of DH and I'm tired of hearing their names lol.

Justin- my cousin just named her baby this and it was number 2 on my list.

Austin- This name was number 1 on my boy list with both girls.. then my brother met his wife and her son's name is Austin.

Lindsey- DH's ex ruined that one for me.

Matthew- My ex ruined that one for me. haha The list goes on, but there's a few.

Teaching is the worst!  We picked our boy's name over the summer...and granted, it's a popular name.  Sure enough, there is one in my class this fall, and, suffice it to say, if this baby is a boy, I hope he is nothing like my student of the same name!

The parents only ever call him by a nickname, and made a big deal when I had labeled his classroom things with his full name (which they indicated on paperwork and thus it appeared so on my class list).  I had to re-label everything!  Suffice it to say, I told my husband that if we have a boy, I refuse to use that nickname until June!

I used to love Landon, but a horrible little boy at daycare ruined it for me.

I also really like Avery for a boy, but the fact that it's considered more feminine has totally ruined it.

I teach at a small daycare/preschool and even a great kid ruins a name as far as me using it for myself. I still love the name and the child but I want that name to stay with that memory.

Examples- Jackson, Autumn, Spencer, Sadie, Richard, Alli, Wyatt, Boyd, Garrett, or, Caton and a dozen more.

I love these names for the kids. But trust me there are some names I seriously dislike because of the kids. Chris, Lucas, Dante, Isabelle.

I LOVED the name Karina/Corrina when I as pregnant with my first but everyone kept saying it was a strippers name. :(  I tried to use it for my second but I couldn't shake the nasty impression from the first go-around.  If I were to have a third I might say screw it and use it anyways- I still love it!

My dad and an ex share the name Scott. I always wanted to name my son Joshua Scott after my dad but now DH won't go for it because of ex.

To name a few:

My ex husband's name was a fave name before I ever met him.  I probably wouldn't have done a "Jr." with it but now, it's obviously off the table.  Just another thing he screwed up!

But my favorite?  Any time a Queen on RuPaul's Drag Race has a name similar to a real name I like, I can't un-think it.  It's like a stripper, but if she were actually a he.

Cameron.  I'm a music teacher, so I see the entire school.  Every Cameron I've had has been reeeeeeally difficult (male and female).  I have a few others that stand out from teaching but I also have a bunch of names that I LOVE based on great students I've had.

Natalie was ruined for my by my MIL who said "It's a pretty name, but we'd all call her Nat or Natty" I realized that even if most people didn't, my MIL would and it would make me want to kill her every time we were all together.

Plus we were trying out having DS say different names we're considering and when we told him to say Natalie he said "Natty" clear as a bell. Haha.

Michael used to be my 1 favorite name for a boy. It wasn't "ruined" for me per se, but it is DH's name. We don't like juniors, so we can't use it! :P

I also used to just love Charlotte, but that is the name of one of DH's exes!

I can only think of one, which is Sean, because of an ex of mine in college.  TBH I would still use it, it doesn't really make me think of him and I still love the name, but DH won't go for it because of that.

I can't use Marie as a MN even though it's my and my MIL's MNs. DH's exW had a double name with Marie. Oh well, since I've found family names I like a thousand times better.

Cullen. I thought it was cool until a tv movie about a real life murder in Texas. The main character  was T. Cullen Davis.  Ruined.

Tatum. That was my number one girl name for years. Until "Scream".

Nick Lachey and Kristin Cavalari both named their sons this. If they ever even visited New Jersey for more than a connecting flight, I doubt they would choose it.
