what to wear to babyshower?

Hi everyone! In just 2 & 1/2 weeks I am going to an event called Operations Shower.. it is a shower given by an amazing organization to women whos husbands are deployed during their pregnancy. They select about 30-40 women and they have an awesome event for them and its a great chance to meet other women in the same situation. Also there will be a military appreciation ceremony right before the main event and I'm not sure but it may be outdoors. Then the day after that one of my friends is throwing me a shower at a nice lunch type of place that is closed on weekends and will be open just for the shower.. there will be approx 20 people there and I want to look put together. My question is.. I have no clue what to wear to either of these things!! I'm a t-shirt, jeans, and flip-flops kind of girl and im wondering do i stick to that or do i dress it up a little or do I dress it up alot? I have been having a hard time during this pregnancy making any decisions.. infact I finally bought a crib and changing table last week and i swear it was a harder decision than my wedding dress! lol :) any help would be much appreciated! thanks :)

I would say dress it up. Maybe cute jeans and a nice top? Or a skirt even? These pic are going to be with you for life so think about how you want to remember your baby shower. When I got married my moms friend threw me a shower. I planned to wear jeans and a cute top. She took me to the store and bought me a skirt that day and sandals to match. She also told me something's are worth dressing up for. She was right. Lol

For the first one, I might dress up more than the 2nd, but I wouldn't wear a dress or anything too fancy. Just your nicest pair of maternity pants and a nice shirt, but be sure both are comfortable.

For the lunch with friends one, I'd wear my most comfortable maternity jeans and the shirt that shows off my belly the most. If you're going to celebrate being pregnant, it's the best time to show off the baby bump!

Definitely dress it up a little bit but don't sacrifice comfort.  I wore nice dark maternity jeans and a cute button up maternity top and some flats.  I also did my hair and makeup.  I am very pleased with how I look in pictures and I was also very comfortable.

I don't recommend dresses or skirts unless they are long.  With my growing belly and spreading hips, I find it harder to be lady like right now and didn't want to flash anyone opening gifts at my shower. Big Smile

For the first one, nice dress pants, a festive color top, if you want to do jeans, then nice dark wash jeans with a blazer and scarf, get your hair and make up done.

For the second one, I would dress up more, if it's nice restaurant, your guest will be dressed up nice and you don't want to be the only one dressed down.

If you have a nice shift dress with tights and flat boots would be cute, too.

I would dress up a little, but comfort would be first.  I have been loving the long sweater shirt/dresses with leggings and boots.  Then with the right accessories I can make them as casual or dressy as I want.  These are all I wear when Im not at work  (PE teacher, so I get to wear sweats at work Wink )  Normally Im like you, t shirt and jeans or something more sporty.  But during this pregnancy Im pretty much anti jeans and anti pants in general.  Super stretchy leggings worn really low, and a long top take a ton of pressure off my midsection.

I am a big believer in dresses for things like showers. If you have a sweater dress with leggings/thick tights and boots that would be perfect.

I went to my best friend's shower recently and I wore a cute dress from Motherhood Maternity (empire waist with a pleated skirt and thin belt and it was a teal, pink, and black color block design), black tights, black heels, and a black shrug an got a lot of compliments.  Motherhood actually has tons of their dresses on sale right now so it's worth checking out.
