what to wear to babyshower?!

(also posted in 2nd tri board)

Hi everyone! In just 2 & 1/2 weeks I am going to an event called Operations Shower.. it is a shower given by an amazing organization to women whos husbands are deployed during their pregnancy. They select about 30-40 women and they have an awesome event for them and its a great chance to meet other women in the same situation. Also there will be a military appreciation ceremony right before the main event and I'm not sure but it may be outdoors. Then the day after that one of my friends is throwing me a shower at a nice lunch type of place that is closed on weekends and will be open just for the shower.. there will be approx 20 people there and I want to look put together. My question is.. I have no clue what to wear to either of these things!! I'm a t-shirt, jeans, and flip-flops kind of girl and im wondering do i stick to that or do i dress it up a little or do I dress it up alot? I have been having a hard time during this pregnancy making any decisions.. infact I finally bought a crib and changing table last week and i swear it was a harder decision than my wedding dress! lol :) any help would be much appreciated! thanks :)

I'd play it safe and go right in the middle. Just dress up a little. I've never been to a jeans and sneakers shower myself, but apparently they happen. I've also never been to a super fancy shower. I'd say wear either nice pants and a top or a daytime dress. Have fun!

First off, thanks to your husband for his service!  I would wear at least a nice top and pants (no jeans/sneakers) to the Operations Shower or maybe a casual dress.  To the shower your friends are throwing, I'd wear either a dressy top/pants or a dress.  I wouldn't wear flip-flops to either event, but if you have dressy sandals or flats, wear those.

I would opt for a nice pair of slacks and a nice top and comfortable shoes/sandals.  Keep in mind you will most likely be bending over opening gifts...that is why I say slacks over a dress.  Wear what is comfortable but still nice.

Not sure how Operations Shower works, but it sounds like kind of a big deal. If there's a ceremony and run by an organization they may want to use pictures from the shower to help promote future showers. I would say dress up for that one.

The shower with your friends can be a little more laid back, but still more than jeans and flip flops.

Who are you to tell her what is acceptable for her shower?

I have never been to a shower that a t-shirt, jeans, and flip flops weren't acceptable, and I would never want to go to one where it isn't.
