Intro and first dilema, how did you feel going into the 2nd?? help plz.

Hello everyone my name is Kristina and I am 27 years old, married with two children from previous marriage and 2 step children with current marriage. SO and I just found out about 3 weeks ago that we are expecting. I have some questions that I would like your opinions on. Before my missed cycle, I had symptoms of pregnancy, sore breasts, swollen fingers, fatigue, moodiness, emotional and lack of appetite as nothing looked, smelled or sounded good. I am now at the end of all this, I have a hard time believing that I should be going according to my last cycle as it was shorter than normal and lighter than normal. Is it possible that I am further along than I think I am? According to all the information that I am reading, my symptoms fit the 9-11 week mark as of where I am now, bloating, heartburn, constipation, increase in energy, beginning to develop the bump, etc. Could my last cycle have been implantation bleeding? When I took my test on the morning I should have had a visit from Aunt flow, I had a positive result in 30 seconds if not sooner, to me that seems awfully quick for the morning of my missed period, it wasn't even the first morning pee either, it was about 2-3 potty breaks into the morning. What would you guess? I have my fist appt. set for 12-7 because according to my last cycle that would be approx. my 10 week mark, but I just can't get rid of this nagging feeling that I am further along than we think. Please any help would be excellent and if you've had any experiences with this, I would appreciate to hear it as well.

You can't tell how far along you are from symptoms. Symptoms are different for every woman for every pregnancy.

Symptoms have nothing to do with how far along you are. They can come and go at any point

BUT, is it normal to have the symptoms that I had prior to a missed period? With my prev. 2 pregnancies, it was weeks into the pregnancy before I felt anything, and with this one, it was even before a missed cycle. Thanks for the help!!!

Maybe it's twins! Double the babies, double the hormones, double the symptoms!

You can get symptoms as soon as you can get a BFP so if you O'd early you might be a week or so further than you think. The only way to really tell is to wait for your ultrasound.

The reason I took a pregnancy test the day I found out I was pregnant with this baby is because I was going on days of experiencing nausea, enhanced sense of smell, aversions to certain foods, sore breasts, and extreme fatigue. I was only 3wks & 3dys pregnant. Symptoms have absolutely nothing to do with how far along you are.

Like others have said, symptoms have nothing to do with how far along you are. I had to pee every 3 seconds like 7-8 days before a missed period, and had sore boobs early on too. I don't think you would confuse implantation spotting with a full period.

No, there is no way to mistake it for a full period that I agree with 100%, hence the reason I brought up that it was a very short and light one. it lasted for 2 days instead of my standard 5 and it was so light I would've been able to do panty liners for the duration of it and been mess free. Just wanted to ask you ladies in teh 2nd tri because I felt no pregnancy symptoms at all with my previous 2 and then I have some with this one, but they are so much further ahead of schedule according to all the weekly calendars thought it was worth asking about.

Yes, you can have symptoms before a missed period. Haven't you had an OBGYN appointment yet? That is where they can make a guess as to how far along you are...

Thanks for the reply!! No, I have not had it yet, I was a little worried that if I was infact having the implantation bleeding, b/c it was 2 days of light spotting, that would make me nearly 3-4 weeks more prego than I thought and I should be getting in soon if that's the case. But I am a patient one and I'm not gonna go rushing off to the doc just on a whim. I was simply seeking the input of other women in their second tri b/c they may have had symptoms that I expressed and I've not had symptoms with pregnancy before so I was thrown off. I belong to the BABYBUMP forums as well and on there they have a weekly calendar of what the body should begin going through and should end going through, given a couple weeks for error of course since we are all different. I simply hoped for some resolution and to hear if any women were further along than they initially thought by that much of a gap.

I had a completely normal period while I was already pregnant.  Normal flow, length, everything.  I was tracking everything because we were trying.  I had a few days of nausea before my first MISSED period (2nd period while pregnant), and have had no symptoms since, other than baby moving lately.  I went to the doctor absolutely positive (in my head) that I was 9 weeks along.  Doctor did the ultrasound, and I was actually 13 weeks along.  It can happen.

The reallllly funny thing is, I actually went to the doctor in that month between the period-while-pregnant and the missed period and had blood tests ran to see why we were having trouble getting pregnant.  Obviously they didn't do a pregnancy test ;).

And thank you!!! I am reading these posts and while they are all saying the same thing, I can't measure by symptoms, I can't have pregnancy symptoms either without being pregnant, and I had them before I was scheduled to ovulate...... I feel that I know my body, I am almost 30, will be two years shy of it in 2 weeks, I think I know when something doesn't seem right, not that it's bad, but I am sure I either have my dates off and am further a head or somehow women have the ability of their bodies feeling and acting pregnant without actually being pregnant.

I second all PPs who said, "no way to tell without an ultrasound." That said, if you really think you might be further along, call your doc and explain you think you might have missed not one but two periods, and ask when should you come in. They might schedule you for earlier than December, and worst case scenario you get an early check-up (plus an early view of LO)!

kriskwillits:
somehow women have the ability of their bodies feeling and acting pregnant without actually being pregnant.

Want to address this too - that is definitely possible, if you are strongly hoping or strongly fearing being pregnant... When TTGP lots and lots of women have every symptom in the book except a positive pregnancy test, as do many fearful teenagers who've had an "oops" but are still waiting until it's time to test. I know I can feel certain I'm pregnant and not be! Many of my friends have experienced this too, so I'm confident that symptoms alone don't mean much.

Having lots of symptoms without being pregnant doesn't mean you're "faking" or anything; it just means that you're so focused on one outcome that you noticed unrelated stuff (like normal PMS breast tenderness or a minor stomach bug) and then attributed it to your desired result, a pregnancy. You really truly *felt* all those things, but they weren't necessarily the proof of a pregnancy that you are taking them to be. Or maybe they were - but only your doctor could tell you.

Good luck!!!

I was instantly bloated and had sore boobs; not even a week after we conceived. Heartburn and all that other stuff came as soon as I found out I was pregnant. So it's possible you might only be 4-5 weeks.

My situation was similar. Except, i have an extremely irregular cycle, and missed a period the month before I actually conceived.

You won't know for sure how far you are until your first U/S, but I'd guess you're further along than you think. Be prepared for that bit of news, just in case :]
