Books for new moms

Can anyone recommend a good book for new moms?

 Someone mentioned Baby Wise and The Happiest Baby on the Block.  I am going to pick up What to Expect tomorrow but wonding what your thoughts on the other two are?

This is my go-to book now. What To Expect is good, as is Heading Home With Your Newborn. HBOTB is just too badly written for me to stick with, although his advice is good. Just flip through it in the bookstore, IMO. I'm also liking The Baby Whisperer, although I haven't finished it yet.

Skip Baby Wise. It isn't based on sound medical information and has been linked to FTT due to its recommendations for rigid scheduling.

I prefer the Baby Book over What to Expect, but that's more based on my own personal parenting style. The Happiest Baby is good.

Me too. Easy to understand, informative, and the index (because who wants to read the whole chapter when you're freaking out about something right NOW) is comprehensive.

This is a great book. I used it with DS and now again with DD. Toddler 411 is also good once your to that stage.

I agree with pp. Skip Babywise. The recommendations are unsafe for small babies.

I do not own those 2 you mentioned.  We bought Mayo's Guide to Baby's First Year which DH really likes.  Our pediatrician gave us Your Baby's First Year by American Academy of Pediatrics, which I personally prefer.  But both have been invaluable to us as first time parents!
