Is it normal for doc not to order beta test?

Sorry if this is a dumb question...this is my first pregnancy, and I found out last Friday. I called my doctor right away and they scheduled me for an ultrasound and appointment about 3 weeks from now. Is it normal to not have a beta test to check the hormone levels? I wasn't concerned at first, but I keep seeing tons of posts on here about it. Just wondering if I should ask about it or just let it be. TIA!

Most doctors only test betas if you have a history of miscarriage.

Those posts were probably from people with multiple losses or who had fertility treatments. If you are not high risk it's normal to not have betas, don't worry.

If you have had problems in the past or your health history would warrant it, then yes. If this is your first or you've never had a MC then they probably wouldn't. You can request one I'm sure if you had questions or doubts.

It varies.

My last OB didn't. I believe they tested the levels at my 10 week appointment when they took like 10 vials of blood, but that's it. I was obviously pregnant at that point, so it didn't really matter.

My current OB's policy is not to book anyone for an appointment until their betas are over 2000, so they do check them.

I had a m/c over the summer at 6 weeks.  My CNM's office still only wanted to see me at 8 weeks.  At that point they drew blood and I got my quant levels.
