WTH!

So today I went in and had a blood test done to see of I was preggers. I took a hpt and it was neg after the 2 min wait. Disappointingly I called my RE nurse to discuss my next cycle. A couple hours later I checked online and my test had just come up and was neg. NBD I expected it after the HPT. Within 20 sec of getting off the computer my doctor called my phone and then my husbands to let me know that at 5 mins the lab tech saw a positive on my test. They then asked me to come in again tomorrow to take the test again. I am so confused! I am 13dpoiui and having all sorts of things going on that could be AF or pregnant. Has anyone else had this happen? What kinds of blood pregnancy tests are there? Should I request a certain type?
My hubby and I have been together almost 5 years and married DH is normal (high count and high motility) . I have PCOS and annovulatory hypothalamus. Clomid #1 BFN Clomid #2 in Oct 2012 w/ovidrel trigger and IUI #1 on 11/1/12. 11/17/12 BFP! M/C at 9 wks 12/20/12 Switched to Letrozole 2/23/12 trigger and IUI #2!BFN Letrozole #2 march 2013, CD10 no response, given 2nd dose of Letrozole. Positive OPK & IUI #3 3/28/13 BFN Follistim Apr '13.05/16/13 BFP! EDD 1/24/14 BabyFruit Ticker Lilypie Angel and Memorial tickers

Labs have tests that are very similar to HPT but instead of measuring just urine you can test both urine and serum (blood).  It will still give you a + or - result.

There are two kinds of blood tests, a quantitative beta test and a qualitative test.

The quantitative test is the one you want as it tells you the exact number.

A qualitative test is only measured on a threshold for pregnant/not pregnant. As far as I know, could be wrong

I am so wanting to jump up and down with joy but fear it could be neg and dont want to get my hopes up!

A faint line on a blood test?  I thought that would give numbers, not lines?

If it were me, I'd POAS tonight...but I'm anxious like that.

Chancie has it right - there are two types of blood tests.  The 'betas' you hear about on TB are the quantitative and give you an actual number.  Some doctors use qualitative instead, which is 'yes' or 'no' depending on the threshold number.

Well went in yesterday and had quantitative test done and came back at 12.8! Doc says thats normal at 4 weeks and to wait a few days and come back in for another test but looks like m KU!

Well I did two pee sticks today as I am going back in on Mon for another BETA. But both HPT came back positive! And I am having sporadic cramps. I really hope this is the one!
