Why do men get all weird/awkward around pregnant women?

Maybe it's just the guys that I work with (I work at a large jr high), but one of the male teachers e-mailed me to tell me that he had a dream that I went into labor at work and he had to deliver my baby b/c no one else could. AWKWARD! Then another one, with whom I am not very close with at all, has taken to telling me how cute I am and hugging me every time he sees me. I've also noticed that men in stores are much more likely to talk to me or ask me about my pregnancy and then have these weird moments where they just stand there and stare. Please tell me that this is happening to someone other than me?!

My husband explained this to me yesterday. It is because we are walking reminders of A) what can happen if they are not careful and NOT ready for a child; and B) we are walking time bombs ready to explode and shoot a baby across the floor leaving them to be the hero and "catch".

Lost but never forgotten <3 :

Read this to DH and he agrees.  Well in his words, "Hm.. maybe.. yeah that could be it."  Though he did mention that I'm the only one he talks to about pregnancy and would feel weird bringing it up with someone else.

I think also if it's not pp's explanation, then it's people who already have babies. Are your coworkers married/have children?  I know my DH is much more likely to talk to pregnant women or women with kids because 1) They are already taken, so it's not like he's flirting, etc., so he feels more comfortable.  2)  We have a kid and he's completely IN LOVE with our son and loves to talk about kids.  Same as if I saw a new mommy with her baby somewhere or a pregnant lady.  I can't help myself - I ask how old the baby is or how far along the mom is...  I think the difference is that women tend to ask questions that women would appreciate and men tend to ask random things that make you wonder what on earth they are thinking.  We speak different languages sometimes. :)

I don't have a female coworker. I'm a law enforcement officer. So awkward men are the name of my game! Most of them in my office have kids so they like to talk about their wives and kids and compare how their wives felt, which doesn't bother me. I'm close to one of them who thinks my stomach is so cool. His wife and he have been trying for a baby for 5 years. My husband is my co worker too so obviously he's all about his baby. The guys that don't have kids usually side eye me while I waddle around the office.

I work with a lot of young adults (teens to early 20s) and all the girls went baby crazy, rubbing my belly, etc when they found on I was pregnant.

All the boys got really weird... one decided to try and discuss ovulation and the length of pregnancy with me (he told me it wasn't weird to discuss this because his brother's wife just had a baby....) and another one started telling me to name the baby after him. One is training to be an EMT and told me he would be able to take care of me if I went into labor... O.O

Guys are weird. I can never predict how they'll react to things.

I get that all the time. Men are so much nicer than other women, I think. Well when it comes to this anyway.

All my husband's friends are both weirded out by my pregnancy or ridiculously curious. they are also all very considerate of my feelings, which surprised me haha. whenever i'm at the grocery store, i do get lots of looks and the store manager (who i knew before i was pregnant) constantly asks me tons of questions about my pregnancy. it's unusual but interesting to see!

my brother on the other hand doesn't want to know anything about the pregnancy. he's 15 and it makes him uncomfortable, partially because i'm his sister and he knows where babies come from xD or so my mom theorizes.

Its funny cause the guys I work with seem to ask me about the baby more than the women do. It hasnt come off as weird its just funny. Cause it's like they are really interested but they don't wanna pry.

I was going to ask this yesterday. I've noticed lately that when I interact with men they tend to give me this weird flirtatious smile. I'm not sure if it's because they are oddly attracted to pregnant women or if it's the "I know what you've been up to."

My father acts so awkward around me more than any other male i come in contact with. He's the only person in my house who HAS not touched my belly because the movie Alien scarred him. So when my mom or sister or boyfriend gets excited about seeing the baby's movement, my dad freaks out. Plus he always asks if I need something or want something but he'll give it to me at a distance (like putting the item on the table and then telling me where it is Lol..)
