I posted this in 2ww this week I think... I want more of a consensus. This was the first fight DH and I ever have had regarding kids and/or holidays.

So.... Does Santa wrap his gifts?!

I'm YES!!!!! and wrapped in special Santa wrapping paper... unless it's something ridiculous that can't be wrapped like a bike.

DH says NO. Everything is just there to behold!

The thought of it being over instantly just kills me. lol.

Oh, I lied... second fight. Our first Christmas we bought a really nice fake tree that is pre-lit... I grew up with colored lights on the tree and him with white. He threw a huge fit at home depot and I conceded and went with the "classier" white lights. Therefore, I should win the Santa fight.

I grew up with my santa gifts not being wrapped and just in a wonderful display around the tree, my gifts from my parents were always wrapped.  I plan on doing this for my kids when I have them as well.  My mom said it always put a smile on her face and gave her joy to see how excited I was when I would wake up and walk into the living room and see all those gifts set up for me and I would just run and start playing with stuff so excited.

Ours were always wrapped in Santa paper. Different paper than my parents gifts were. I never did find that roll of paper in the house. It must have been done at the North Pole!

In our house Santa brings one gift wrapped in red paper, or unwrapped if it's really big.

Yes!  Us too!  There was usually one bigger gift that was just under the tree not wrapped, but the smaller things from Santa were in special Santa paper.

I am having a very hard time understanding that there are *unwrapped* gifts under a tree. It never would have been done that way at either of my houses growing up! I never even heard of people doing that. I am 30 years old. If DH suggests it, I will slap him - presents are meant to be wrapped!

I'm with the majority here! Our gifts from Santa were wrapped in special Santa wrapping paper! DH however is just like yours and didn't wrap. So we came to an agreement. All gifts are wrapped with the exception of one, which works out anyway bc there is usually that gift that is just too much of a PITA to wrap. Little does he knew I figured this out already but to him I gave in! LOL. There is something about watching DS rip open each gift and get excited over each one that just warms my heart and makes all the money and time spent well worth it!

I'm SS.

Growing up, some Santa gifts were wrapped in special paper.  The 'big gift' (sometimes a joint gift with my brother) wasn't wrapped and my parents would set up a whole 'scene'.

For example, one year I got the entire gymnastics set for my American Girl doll, my parents dressed her up and had her 'practicing' the beam (no idea how long it too for them to get her to stay) and sprinkled wrapped candy all around it (this was before we had pets).

Any small gifts would be wrapped and placed in the stocking.

Granted, Santa usually brought a 'big' gift, and the 'parents' gave us the rest of them, which were always wrapped and then hidden around the house (which my brother and I would have to find and unwrap, in numerical order, after both had found them all).

Santa wrapped our gifts one year and it felt weird!  My mom always did the displays for the major department stores in our area, so it's not like we just had a pile of unwrapped gifts sitting there - they were artfully displayed!  Mannequins were involved and it was fun to search through the display to see what all was there.  When we asked why Santa didn't wrap our gifts, my dad said it was because by the time Santa got to SC he was out of wrapping paper.  At 7 years old, that made total sense to me.

Plus, Santa generally left gifts that couldn't be wrapped - bikes, playhouse, pool table, and eventually "Santa" started leaving vehicles with giant bows on them in the driveway!

This is how it was for me growing up as well. We always got 1 or 2 santa gifts that were not wrapped and in front of the tree where the other presents from my parents/brother were wrapped.

My parents always said Santa and his elves always wrapped the gifts. My parents would use different wrapping paper for the Santa gifts and everything was wrapped unless it was a bike or something. It was so exciting to see from Santa and to rip open the paper and be surprised was the best. My mom still rights Santa on our main Christmas gift lol. My mom has always done a stocking and still does

DHs parents would have a different color wrapping paper for each kid and everything was from Santa.

When we have kids I definitely plan on doing gifts from Santa and gifts from us. I will wrap the gifts also. I think that's the most exciting part is to see what's underneath the paper

Santa definitely had his own wrapping paper and HANDWRITING! Very important! When we were kids we were poor so Mom & Dad didn't get us much except for one big present and Santa would bring us the rest.

It was a sad day when my world was blown about Santa... stupid kids!

This post made me LOL.

I think many of you know... my mom passed away when I was 7. She always was in charge of getting gifts wrapped, etc. It was just never my dad's thing. I am pretty sure it was the Christmas after she passed that I stopped believing in Santa Clause because

1) my dad forgot to put out the presents before dawn (we were at a late night party on christmas eve) and I snuck downstairs early and saw no presents and flipped out

2) when he did put them our after telling me Santa was on his way but I had to go back to bed, they were wrapped in the same wrapping paper as the gifts from him

So yes Santa wraps then and especially when you have kids those gifts should have different wrapping paper then the others if LO is old enough to have that understanding

I've loved reading all these stories. :)

I wanted to add that we also put out carrots for the reindeer... and they were always gone the next morning... and we'd find bells in our yard that fell off the sleigh. DH also thinks this is weird, but I remember how excited my sisters and I would be.

The fun is in the unwrapping to see what Santa brought. Always wrapped in santa paper growing up!

I get where a big gift like a bike wld still be exciting setting next to the tree tho. All in preference.. GL
